  1. Outstanding accomplishment for a super young man! He should be playing on Sunday next year. It is such a shame that his achievements are overshadowed by such a shitty team performance the last two years. Godspeed Casey!
  2. I though it very unseemly that we think we have to know every detail of the man's life. It was none of our business, folks.
  3. Rick's post is one of the best I have ever seen in capturing the North Texas spirit. I agree, and posted a few days ago, that this is a real dogshit season. Now is the time to tighten the chinstrap, jockstrap, and any other strap you may have and not give in to the depression we are all feeling to some extent. It's when you get knocked down and STAY down that you are beaten. Thanks, Rick. I don't know what our guys hear at halftime, but it's evidently not more inspiring than FFR's message.
  4. Someone has to lose this game, so I think it will be Tech. I don't think they have the personnel to go toe-to-toe with Texas on the O-Line and D-Line for more than a couple of quarters. I look for Tech to keep it close for a half, then choke. Texas 42 (going away), Tech 24.
  5. Whatever...just don't drop the soap!
  6. This crap about having Dodge's head needs to stop. I do not like what I see on the field at all...it is demoralizing, demeaning, detestable and downright dogshit. Having said all that, and meaning it, any of us who thought Dodge could turn this program around on a dime is doing drugs with the reportedly one-out-of-six players who tested positive. Dodge has a helluva problem on his hands and seems to be wading in without making a lot of noise about it. To my friends who bought into instant gratification, my condolences. The fact is that we made a commitment to the man and we need to stand by our commitment. Let's give the man as much support as we can; if it doesn't work out in another season or two, bring on the headsman. Until then, I say let's do our part and let him do his. Oh...the stadium? It will definitely happen. Just my opinion.
  7. He probably hasn't seen his man-gina in several years. He should be in the next Austin Powers flick.
  8. You forgot the statistics about how the team grades out above his benchmarks, "we're a very young team" (holdover standby excuse from DD), and we would be just fine if we could stop giving up "explosive" plays. TD needs new writers.
  9. GREAT ideas all. I will be alert and join in supporting whatever form this expression of appreciation takes. Our students deserve a lot of credit for doing the right thing!
  10. Just had a thought over lunch. What if Ken still has his jersey OR what if we could come up with a retro replica for him to wear? Now THAT would be cool!
  11. We WERE sparsely represented over there. It was good to see Stebo on the road again; just like old times. Eaglette was very ill but tried to tough out the game; we ended up listening to the end of the game on the car radio. RV came around and visited with all in attendance; always a class act. I told RV I had three goals: that the stadium vote pass; that we win a ballgame; and that I win back some money from the "house" in Shreveport. I settled for one out of three...but it was the most satisfying goal. For future reference, the Monroe trip is very easy and their fans were not obnoxious. One gentleman in particular very politely came by before the game, thanked us for coming over to be with them, and wished us well. I highly recommend breaking up the trip by staying in Shreveport, partaking of games-of-chance, and eating a meal or two at The Blind Tiger. This also works well for a trip to Ruston if we ever schedule LaTech again.
  12. Never say never! I thought that was a novel idea. Make it part of the postgame, then fire Boomer and shoot the fireworks. Sounds like a helluva good idea to me.
  13. The plaque idea works well. In the SuperPit somewhere is a plaque with the names of those who bought green seats when the orange ones needed to be pitched. Maybe the best thing to come from the Trilli era. If you must have your name on a brick, make it bricks in a concourse or walkway.
  14. I'll be in Monroe tomorrow and that's where RV and Dr. B will be. Has the makings of interesting conversations...either way.
  15. Eaglette and I will lay up in Shreveport at Diamond Jack's Friday night, go to Monroe for the game, then back to Shreveport for a little more action. Coming back on Sunday afternoon. There's a good chance we'll all be 0-fers!
  16. I stand corrected!! It WAS a dangling chad. Don't read anything Freudian into that...I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK!
  17. I plan to be at a wedding and drinking heavily. UNTFlyer will put two unsuspecting rubes in my seats. God bless them! My attendance guess is 14,000, but that is inflated because of Family Weekend. ULaLa will have their way with us and I don't even want to think about their score; we will get a touchdown and three field goals (when we should have gone for it in short yardage situations) = 16.
  18. Thought I would never say this, but I'm actually looking forward to missing the game next weekend. Family wedding attendance demands have mercifully superseded ULaLa. I'll be back for the last two, and I'll sit through the entire coming disasters. I'm also considering going to LaMo; plan to lay up in Shreveport Friday and Saturday nights, go to the game Saturday, get a little casino action, and come back Sunday. IMHO, we just saw our last chance for victory this season go away last night. For the record, the only UNT game I have ever left before the final gun was the WKy game last year, and that was to avert hypothermia. Mental discomfort is one thing, but avoiding physical harm is another. I never leave because I have seen a lot of crazy things and miracles happen over the years in football. I will admit that this team seems to be the most impotent of any I can recall and the chances of any such event appear remote. I'm a loyal and dedicated supporter and have been for many years, but I'm getting old and tired. I will have to evaluate my commitment at the end of this season after weighing the final results, recruiting, and stadium vote. We're a legitimate D-I school physically and should be there; for a multitude of reasons which have been discussed here for years, there is insufficient support. If the support will not be forthcoming, we need to consider dropping the sport and be a basketball school. That seems to me to be the cold, hard reality.
  19. Maybe its the old mentality of making your opponent uncomfortable. As a high school player, I remember vividly a trip to play Culver Military Academy. The visiting team's facilities were in the stable! Truth! Ahhh...I love the smell of horse$hit in the morning!!
  20. "The Pancreas That Ate Muleshoe" ... great movie.
  21. I look forward to 99% of what HE said. Most of all, I look forward to TD putting 22 guys on the field that will go all out for 60 minutes of football, to the best of their God-given talent, for the honor and fame and glory of UNT. I don't care if they are all freshmen or a mixed bag, and I don't care if they are the second coming of the "Green Team". I want to see balls-to-the-wall football for 60 minutes. I want to see nasty. If we see that, we'll see a win IMHO.
  22. I'll light a candle for you. Maybe two. And another for our team.
  23. Agree with you. We do rack up yards and generate offense...just don't get to the red zone very often. Few trips to the red zone = nothing on the board. On the other hand, give the bad guys the ball with a very short field consistently and they won't have nice yardage stats at all. And we'll win time-of-possession too. I have been predicting one of those days where we go ape$hit and score at will for some time, only to be frustrated time-and-again like the rest of you. This week has got to be the week. This week our guys have got to be like a bull coming out of the chute...now THERE is an idea!
