he truly is an amazing human. 66 years old and has more energy at 6:55 am than I do all day long...and I feel like I take care of myself pretty well these days... simply amazing. Anybody have any complaints now? RV's hire this time around is starting to look pretty solid. Obviously we aren't at any kind of a "finish line"... but, man, it is much more fun to be a season ticket holder for good ole UNT with Dan at the helm... Hopefully he can keep the arrow pointed up. We'll see.

It appears we are 5.5 pt favorites... hmmmm. color me nervous. Can we handle the math-letes at home when we are at the game in costume? Over/under on how many darth vader outfies since we are wearing "happens to be" black? See you at the stadjum... inside the stadjum...please? not outside drinking in the parking lot or on the f'ing hill... This game is big. huge. massive... and us being favorites makes me happy and nervous...and ok. It doesn't really matter what vegas thinks but... can't wait.

I am excited about whomever wins the starting job next year.... But I worry about that starting in spring ball... Wtf is this really? We are 5 and f'ing 3. Big game Thursday against rice.

I have 4 tickets and 2 parking passes that are normally taken up. My family is staying home, so I have begun recruiting a few single dudes or recently married dudes with no kids... They hate passing out candy anyways since they have no kids... I believe this is your sales niche to do your part... We need butts in seats out there. Rice is a key game... We shall see... Start selling everybody... Get those tickets used. Good luck, we are all counting on you... And don't call me Shirley...

Attendance was ... Better. I have no way of knowing how many were actually there, but for the first time in a while, I wasn't embarrassed. Atmosphere is something that will sell itself. It is contagious... Lets just keep the momentum going. Halloween will be tough for the alums that have kids... I will be there, but most of my friends will not. The students will be key for rice... All student organizations are going to need to postpone their parties until afterwards. Or they need to make the game a part of the plans... Otherwise, rice will be poorly attended...

Myself and 7 others are going to be there. I too am 0'fer on road games... I really need to see that streak end. I will not make any proclamations or should type of statements. We are going to enjoy some golf, beer, and some football... Team is hot and cold this year, we shall see... Will enjoy the trip regardless....

So, the source of the rivalry with mtsu comes from them claiming a share of the sunbelt title in 2001 when we were clearly the outright conference winner. Right? Just wanted to make sure I had my facts straight. I am being a nerd and watching the ecu at mtsu game that I DVRed from last week and saw a list of sun belt titles they have claimed that included 2001 and 2006. Please feel free to correct me or expand on this... Think I heard George say on the ticket that mtsu got rings made and everything.... Even chuckled a bit on the air about it.

I get more excited about linemen than skill position players... maybe that is flawed, but if we have good beef on both sides of the ball, it seems like the other positions are automatically going to have a better chance to succeed. So, in short, the more quality linemen we have, the better off we'll be. Ok, I am the master of stating the obvious. Now for the defensive line...... Hopefully Mr Beard saw Simmonds feeding his big boys on the Beyond the green show this week...and then skipped the recap of the tulane poop game...

I believe what he is doing is speaking to the die hards.... Trying to pump us up to go out and sell others on attending. I have tried with coworkers that are also alums... With limited success.... It is truly amazing to me the lack of pride in our alma mater that has infested our alumni base... If they are actual fans of college athletics, they are fans of other schools because everyone wants to root for a winner. That is my assessment. I know, people also need oxygen to survive. It is gonna take winning and a lot of it. The rebuttals I get are when we stop being a doormat, or when we could challenge for a national chamionship, blah blah blah... Then the others simply are not sports fans...or not even fans of college sports...much less any sports... The closest we have come to actually capturing new fans was the Georgia game...then it fell apart by the 4th quarter...further ruining the momentum with an uninspired effort at Tulane. But, unfortunately, we all have to sell sell sell for our own alums on the idea.... Now, if the students would just show up...even a few of them, I think that would be the biggest plus short and long term... Again, winning would do wonders there too.... Think about how unloyal and douchy the fickle youngster is nowadays(man I can't believe how old I sound). Win win win win win win... I have such high hopes for Mac. I just don't know. Attendance embarrasses me just about every home game. I have only missed 2 home games in tha last 8 years. I will be there... Even if it is by myself.... Go mean green.

Yeah, I have made it a point to watch Georgia this year. That Gurley is one tough mother to tackle. Their qb also looks quite good with some awesome targets to throw to. Our d line being undersized will also be a huge issue in this one. The qb will likely have lots of time to get rid of the ball, and the rb's will likely have lots of room to run. We will see. I think the guys will show lots of character and give it their best in a hostile environment...even though, I'm sure the environment won't be nearly as hostile as it will be for a conference school. If we have learned one thing about this edition of the mean green, they have character. No matter the situation, they will scratch and claw... We all know what they are stepping into this weekend. I will watch, record, and rewatch no matter what the results are. There will have to some fairly amazing circumstances for the mean green to hang in there and make this a game. Hopefully the guys play with that same fire and character till the final whistle. Most of all, I just hope that we come out with ZERO injuries. I have been pleasantly surprised that most of the SEC schools have NOT run up the score. The only time I've seen a school run it up was OU... stoops had an axe to grind coming off the boise state loss and hearing too much about the much hyped todd dodge coming in... The first half of the kansas state game was one of the biggest highlights of last season. Lets hope we have some silver linings to come out of this game.

not only does the mean green d deserve credit for creating turnovers... his assessment of the "scorching heat" is a little overblown. the 91 degrees could be looked at as a cold front here in texas. While I'm sure it is much hotter than they are used to, mother nature took it easy on them last saturday. Can you imagine how much worse it would have been for them if it were 103 like in the idaho game? Especially if it were 100+ and a 3:00 kickoff? I bet they would have needed IV's for every member of the team and the coaching staff. I guess in their defense, the sun beat down on their sideline until well into the 4th quarter. I'm sure that RV built that into the stadium design!!!! So, our strategy should be to schedule schools from up north for day games in early september from now on....we just need to come up with a shade solution for the student section stands.... Any ideas?

So then what will your reaction be if all the sudden UNT starts winning and we have 25k at every game? Look at me, I'm a UNT football fan. You know the hardest part of living in Dallas/ft worth? All the transplants and people that live here and hate the local franchises... All cities support the winning franchises... Spare me.

Thompson did very well tonight. I know things were not perfect, but the turnaround from first to second half was striking. Defense made a large change in intensity, but the offense, starting with DT, also got it going. He was good, tough, and clutch. Nice to see. He deserves his props this week for sure. Nice win, GMG!

I would like to offer up the nickname BOOM LEE. He was the spark that got me finally excited about something that happened in the game for the mean green. Made it just a little bit meaner, one bone crushing hit at a time...

FYI, when I looked this program up to dvr it, the picture associated is very misleading....picture of a putter and a golf ball.... thought I was recording the wrong thing...

Question to all, did the drops from Idaho WRs make our d look a lot better than we actually were in week one? I am a bit concerned with this facing a better team in week 2 on the road.

Is it me or is the constant smoo d player on the ground after every play getting old? Like every other play to slow down the tech offense.
