  1. Short term: this year only, since this staff is full of guys in their roles for the first time, i imagine they will likely be figuring out how to function as a staff. I HOPE they learned from some of their mistakes in their first game together. As the staff figures out how to be a d1 staff, i THINK they will improve. Players should also show signs of improvement after getting a few more weeks under their belts. Staff experience and continuity should help with improvement. If not, we will have to start over again in a couplenof years. Long term: This staff should be able to improve. All of them appear to be young and hungry. If they are good at all, getting this first year under their belts SHOULD make a big difference.... if not, we will be starting over soon. Lastly, if this staff is able to win over recruits, then in 2 years, we will see REAL improvement. If not, then we will be starting over again... There is no quick fix from what we saw last year. There really are some interesting pieces there ... but as a program overall, you need 2 or 3 at every position to be truly good. That doesn't exist on this roster. I still think this is going to be a 3 win team this year. It looks like smu is going to be a 5 win team to me...for what its worth...
  2. Prosports loyalty, geography... your alma mater is your alma mater. I know many disagree with me on prosports rooting rules.. that is how we have so many douchbag bankee fans that show up in Arlington when they are buying championships... And btw, houston is just gross as a city. Why anybody would choose to root for a team from that place... unless you live there, is beyond me... but, i guess i would never choose to live there. San diego however, that place is awesome... just too pricey for me. Go mean green
  3. He will bounce back. I watched for him in these scrimmages, and honestly, i didn't think he stood out all that much. Akunne was an anchor of the best d i have seen at unt... especially in the 2nd half of games... if memory serves, lance got sent to the practice squad before he got his chance, but i think he just had too many hamstring issues before shining in his last preseason opportunity. Akunne's dream is not dead. I am sure he will keep working to pursue his dream of being an nfl LB. I don't understand all the hatred for the cowboys. Sometimes it really really bothers me that we have so many transplants that don't embrace all things of this area. Oh well. Can't wait to watch both the mean green and the cowboys this season. Football is back baby!
  4. Agreed... "Here's to swimmin with bow legged women" "Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him." We are gonna have ribs and I'm gonna have some Shiner Oktoberfest... at home because of my son's stoopy dumb dumb baseball game... if only I weren't a coach for both of my kids.... ugh...
  5. The Rice Mathletes visiting the Western KY Lubes interests me...
  6. A player of this size and strength is likely at the very least an upgrade I would think. I'm pretty sure our d-line got pushed back rather easily all of last season. I would hope that he is at least an upgraded anchor that is hard to push back and stuff things up the middle more often than in the previous season... plus, in a 3 - 3 - 5, I would also assume you need a massive human as your middle piece of the d-line to try and free up some of those LB's to make some tackles... or maybe I'm just brainwashed to think that our perpetually undersized d-line that has some size added is an auto-upgrade... I'm very very interested to see how this plays out.
  7. ummmmm, yuck? I'd choose something else to bring.
  8. Best losing score prediction I've ever seen... I'm going 37 - 24 bad guys. 2nd year of the fighting Morrises is gonna be too much for the first year of the fighting Littrells... I think we see improvement over last year in our qb play, but we just don't have continuity quite yet. We shall see how recruiting goes over the next season or so. We shall see...
  9. I just got off the phone with Direct Tv Per the customer service rep, it will be on channel 696 CSNBAHD which is the comcast sports net bay area channel... I spend a pretty penny on a monthly basis, and I was assured that this game will be included in what I already pay for in my programming(some sports package)... and she said it would be available in the Coppell zip code(75019) for us. Just wanted to share. My son's first baseball game for the season starts at 6:15, so I'll be recording and viewing at home.
  10. 21k My clan will not be there. Sadly, my son's first game starts at 6:15...
  11. put me down for 3 and 9. I think we show some life in atleast half of the games.... and half of those are w's. the other half, we will likely have some reminders from last year. I believe that we win the div 2 game and 2 conf games. Sadly, I think we lose to smu. I hope I'm wrong... and if they'll get the coppell baseball schedule posted for my son, I'll know if we are going to be there for the season opener....
  12. I too prefer the cold weather experience....HOWEVER, this one was special. not cold enough for the rain to freeze totally and the wind would pierce you by itself that day. So we were wet and extremely extremely extremely cold. I would have needed a full body rain suit with full ski gear below that. I didn't have that kind of gear on for sure.
  13. I experienced that one.... the nutt kick at the end wasn't much fun. We've got this We've got this.... ugh, we don't got this... Worst weather experience... can't remember the year, but a sleet/freezing rain experience for a Western KY game... during the Dodge era was without a doubt my worst UNT football weather experience. I believe we ended up winning that one, but I left at halftime cause we were a bunch of p's. We were on the hospitality porch? thing? and we left at the half and listened at my buddy's house while playing cards...indoors....
  14. Jeeze, with no play book, ummm, i wonder if they have atleast one touchdown play to call. If not, this season is gonna suck. I hope defense has at least one "stop em" play....
  15. yeah, I'm pretty sure he won't have time to get up to speed in 2 weeks. Hopefully we have enough functional receivers to cover things for week 1. He will certainly come into play a couple weeks down the line in this offense.... I think(bet hedge)
  16. Cowboy games just got more exciting for me... although, RB is a crowded position for them right now. Good to hear he is back and practicing again. My favorite moment of last football season(pro or college) was Lance's contribution to the game winning drive against the va-Giants in the season opener. Twas a thing of beauty! After the North Texas season started(it was over basically) and after the Lance Dunbar injury, football season was pretty much over for me. It sucked... http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/dallas-cowboys/cowboys/2016/08/21/rb-lance-dunbardid-rehab-cowboys-disciplined-bringing-back
  17. How about we honor a team from our past that got us the death penalty.
  18. Lee and trice back there were awesome. Buyers was a solid tackler also. That skladany defense was fun, especially in the 2nd half...
  19. I've heard he is first to show up for practice and last to leave.... watches film all weekend long instead of partying... coach on the field. You know, the type that plays way above his talent level because he is so prepared... 2 words.... Lunch Pail
  20. My 6 year old son and i were there. It was very nice with the cloud cover, but the team looked like it needs every second of practice it has left to be ready for smu sept 3rd. Qb mix looked interesting. I was kind of mostly impressed with our oklahoma wonder boy me fine. Felt like he kept making plays... even after lots of drops. Alec and josh looked ok. But, everybody needs reps. 89 made a great move on some poor db for a long td, and number 4 trucked what looked like a lb or de for another td. That looked like the highlights to me.
  21. Chase did. I have moved on, and my new employer does not. It is kind of rare now. Apparently making a few phone calls was too difficult for the people in our ticket office... then nitardy decided he would make me an "offer" to pay for their idiocy. Even if your employer matches gifts, our ticket office will f it up.
  22. Just ask them if they are capable of completing simple gift matching tasks... and if they f it up, 3 years in a row, will they accept responsibility for it or would they make me pay for their incompetence?
  23. The ticket office with their inability to fullfill their part of corporate gift matching?
  24. F the moron ticket office....
