WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team dropped its first home game of the year to North Texas, 35-18, at Michie Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Knights were outscored 21-8 in the second half, while committing a season-high seven turnovers.

  • Army's seven turnovers were the most it had committed since Oct. 13, 2007 against Central Michigan

TURNING POINT

  • On 4th-and-inches early in the third quarter, Army fumbled the snap. North Texas was able to recover and took over at midfield. Jeffrey Wilson would punch it in from the 1-yard line a few minutes later to push the North Texas lead to 28-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After an Andy Davidson fumble, Jeremy Timpf picked off North Texas quarterback Mason Fine for his sixth career interception. Bradshaw converted on 4th-and-3 to keep the ensuing Army drive alive, and Woolfolk scored on a 9-yard touchdown run to put the Black Knights ahead, 7-0.
  • North Texas responded with a seven play, 76-yard scoring drive that ended with Fine hitting Terian Goree for a 34-yard score, tying the game at 7-7.
  • The Mean Green took the lead, 14-7, with a 34-yard pick-six by Eric Jenkins on Army's resulting drive.
  • Army then embarked on a 14-play drive that ended with a 39-yard field goal from Blake Wilson, making it a 14-10 game.
  • North Texas took over at Army's 32-yard line after a bad snap on the Black Knight's punt, and failed to connect on a 48-yard field gold
  • The teams would trade punts before heading into halftime with North Texas leading, 14-10.
  • The Mean Green's Jeffrey Wilson took a handoff 41 yards to the house to give North Texas a 21-10 advantage early in the third quarter.
  • On 4th-and-inches in the third quarter, Army fumbled the snap and North Texas was able to recover, taking over in good field position. Wilson would punch it in from the 1-yard line a few minutes later to push the North Texas lead to 28-10.
  • Army converted on 4th-and-6 with an 11-yard pass from Bradshaw to Edgar Poe. Later in the drive, Bradshaw appeared to have fumbled on 3rd-and-6, but a review showed his knee was down and thus, Army kept possession. Bradshaw would score from six yards out just a few plays later, and after a successful 2-point conversion, Army trailed, 28-18.
  • The Black Knight defense made a key stop on third down and North Texas would miss the 44-yard field goal with less than 13 minutes remaining in the game.
  • Bradshaw would find a wide-open Dalton Mendenhall down field for a completion, only to see him fumble inside the North Texas 15-yard line. The Mean Green would march down the field and take a 35-18 lead on Wilson's third touchdown of the game.
  • Army saw yet another drive stall due to a turnover, as North Texas would pick off Bradshaw in the end zone to seal the Mean Green's win with under five minutes remaining in the contest.

CAREER MILESTONES

  • Woolfolk's score was the fifth of his career (all touchdowns have come in 2016).
  • Wilson's 39-yard field goal in the second quarter was a career-long, besting his 38-yard make at Buffalo earlier this year.

UP NEXT

  • Army heads back out on the road for a battle with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons next Saturday at 3:30 p.m. That game will be carried live on the ACC Network.
