Beat the heat like a soccer player

Here’s advice from player Rachel Holden of the University of North Texas:

Stay hydrated. This isn’t about just drinking water right before practice, but drinking water throughout the day as well as limiting unhealthy drinks like soda.

Grab a Gatorade or chocolate milk after practice to replenish minerals, carbohydrates and proteins.

Don’t practice in the hottest part of the day. Instead, practice in the morning or evening when it’s not as sunny.

Don’t complain about the heat. It’s easier if you deal with it head-on.
