Will Gigantic Hurricane Earle Postpone Our Clemson Game?

Fortunately, it's not likely. Clemson is 250 miles from the nearest spot on the Atlantic coast, way up near the easternmost Smoky Mountains. (Denton, for comparison, is 300 miles from the nearest Gulf coast spot.)

GTTB, didn't know it was that far inland but I rarely look at state maps outside Texas.:)

So I suppose the worst case scenario would be lots and lots of rain if Earle hits the Carolinas.

GMG!

Well, I see nothing good to come out of a "near hurricane" (in other words, a tropical depression) experience there at Clemson. We want to pass and run; they want to run, so I don't see where that makes us want rain. I'm not ready to wish our Ohio home opener last year on anyone yet, except maybe...Ohio.

Yea that was a rough game. Not saying this b/c I am a Clemson fan but IMO that game is completely different without the monsoon.

Heavy rain and mucho mud (back in the day of grass fields) has been a great equalizer for many at every level of football. My alma mater's HS football team southwest of Houston played a school (Van Vleck, Texas) for our Homecoming Game one seaason; we thought we'd get blown out until we had one of those monsoons blow through from the Gulf and next thing we knew we had tied our districts favorite. It ended in a tie which could acually happen back in the day when Abe Lincoln was president. I heard Abe was even a great fan of Texas High School football, too. (See what happens when you've over-dosed on a summer's worth of green kool-ade)? :w00t:
