Ladies Tennis Blanks Fau

Ladies spending a few days of fun in the sun on the East Coast of Florida knocked out FAU 7-0.

Website Story

Coach Lama made another Line-Up manuever switching Madura and Catalina at #1 & 2. Also kept Franca at #3, Wilhelm appears to be out of Top 6 until further notice with walk-on Shannon McKenzie winning again at Line #6.

Ladies play highly ranked FIU on Thursday down in Miami. A good showing against FIU should allow the ladies to secure the #4 or 5 spot for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Expect FIU, Denver, and USA to maintain the Top 3 spots, with the ladies fighting ULL for the #4 spot, noticed ULL is #75 but I firmly believe the ladies would beat ULL in a heads up match. The ladies after FIU will be playing ULM and Arky State to close out the Sun Belt Schedule, so strong results will be paramount for the team. Also a win against Marquette on Sunday will be a great resume booster.

Ladies lost to #44 FIU 6-1 with Madura taking out another nationally ranked player. The other singles matches were not even close score wise. The doubles point was won by FIU talking #1 and #3, while Wilhelm/Cruz won at #2. The ladies will need to win out in order to get the #4 seed at the Conference tournament.

They play Marquette at home at 2PM on Easter Sunday. Hopefully some of the locals could make this match.

How do they determine the seeding? Is it like the NCAA tournament, where they look at the resume, or just by conference record?

Seedings are very subjective, mainly it is by resume as the conference schools do not play each other on a regular basis, but having some conference results to sort out does help. Right now the top 3 seeds will go to nationally ranked FIU, Denver, and USA. ULL and UNT should be fighting for the #4-5 spots and Troy at #6.

The coaches typically fight over the seedings in a meeting a day or two prior to the tournament. Unlike the Southland Conference in which the teams are are required to play eachother, of course travel is much nicer due to the regional nature of the schools.
