  1. I agree....Between 2007 and 2011 my wife and I went to 20 road games. Only at the SMU game in 2007 and the Rice debacle in 2008 did we draw a really decent amount of UNT fans for a road game. I would say the average UNT fan attendance at a majority of the Sun Belt road games I attended was between 30-50 people which were mostly player parents and UNT staffers. If we went to the MWC we would be back to 30-50 people attending most of the road games. Fans recognize the CUSA teams and a majority are within driving distance.
  2. The Tulsa athletic website shows the game on FSN.
  3. That's because Wisconsin was predicted to be a BCS At Large team to play in the Orange Bowl which then moves the rest of the Big Ten teams up one slot.
  4. I just purchased two single game seats to the UTSA game from Tori in the ticket office. I asked if the phone calls for tickets has increased since the Rice game. She said the phones have been ringing non stop since 830 AM this morning.
  5. Also in that section is a great photo of Coach Mac shaking hands with the students in the first row after the game!
  6. Kevin Sherrington from the Dallas Morning News called it "The best traffic stop since the Berlin Wall!"
  7. I think we are looking at a sell out as long as it is not raining or too cold. If we can draw 22,000 on Halloween on a Thursday night with a very low opponent fan count then I believe we can sell out with a Saturday afternoon homecoming game with an opponent fan base that supposedly travels well.
  8. I liked the backfield set with Byrd, Jim Jim and Rollins all in at the same time. Led to some productive plays including the TD pass to Jim Jim.
  9. How about my guy Richard Abbe's surprising five yard run on 3rd and 2 which kept the drive alive for Jim Jim's TD Run!!!!
  10. Dick Hicks on the Ticket Ticker at 610 AM reported the Mean Green victory and included audio of Coach Mac on the post game. Then the entire next segment at 615 AM with Craig, George and Dick was about the Mean Green game. George said "The worm is turning" and our defense might not have the biggest players but they hit very hard. He talked about the final play of The Stand lasting 40 seconds which the other two laughed and said no way a play could last that long. Craig said he watched the game all the way thru to The Stand and then turned it off when the victory was secure. He said that Dan McCarney is really doing a good job at North Texas. Craig did comment about the empty seats which George countered with that it is improving. It is great to hear that the Mean Green are getting noticed by local media!
  11. DMac just turned 60 this summer but I am sure when he is 66 he will have the same energy level!
  12. A couple thousand...really......Time to defend my alma mater the University of Iowa....The Hawkeyes have always had high attendance at bowl games and a game in Dallas on New Year's Day should be no different. Here is the attendance for their bowl games in their recent history along with their regular season attendance for that year: 2005 Season Outback Bowl vs Florida 65,881 70,585 Average Home Attendance 2006 Season Alamo Bowl vs Texas 65,875 70,585 " " " 2008 Season Outback Bowl vs South Carolina 55,117 70,169 " " " 2009 Season Orange Bowl vs Georgia Tech 66,131 70,211 " " " 2010 Season Insight Bowl vs Missouri 53,453 70,585 " " " 2011 Season Insight Bowl vs Oklahoma 54,247 70,585 " " "
  13. I have four season tickets and just got off the phone with the ticket office to order two more Rice single game tickets for a couple of friends to attend the game. I also ordered two more for the UTEP game for another friend. Next......
  14. Leatha's BBQ....My son was invited on a recruiting trip to Southern Miss back in 2006 and I joined him. Everyone said Leatha's was THE place to eat BBQ in Hattiesburg. It was excellent!
  15. It means they played in the game.
  16. My adopted player had a great game!
  17. This is such a relief for me to finally see a two game winning streak!
  18. I agree with you....The group of fans I was with sat in silent disbelief that we lost for about 10 minutes after the game ended....I am sure the way we felt was no different than how crushed the Ball State fans felt after their dominating first half against us.
  19. Yes I found our game listed on that channel. I was hoping it was going to be on a High Def channel but Standard Def is better than no Def!
  20. Tough question to answer.....Iowa is the alma mater for my wife and me along with a majority of our relatives and I have been a Hawkeye fan my entire life....We have lived in DFW for 27 years and my son played for the Mean Green....Due to how closely I now follow the Mean Green program, I would give a slight edge to rooting for North Texas.
  21. I have fond memories of being at the Iowa Basketball game on that very cold night when Hayden Fry was announced to the crowd as the new head football coach. Few had ever heard of him. It did not take long for him to be the most famous person in the state. A Hawkeye vs Mean Green bowl game in Dallas would be a dream matchup for me!
  22. Congratulations! My wife is a twin. Her best friend has always been and will always be her twin sister.
  23. It was pre game Victory Shots in 2011 and 2012.....Expectations are higher this season and this tradition is now known as a "Bowl Shot!"
  24. My wife and I are going to the game and staying at the French Quarter Hilton Garden Inn.
