  1. Thanks for the kind wishes! We had lived in the Metroplex for 20 years and knew very little about Mean Green Football until our son started playing for UNT. Now almost seven years later we are still very much hooked on the football program and hope to continue that way for years to come. We have met just so many great people including many regulars from this board. We remain thankful that UNT gave our son an opportunity and my family a local school to support. Pre Game Victory / Bowl Shots to All! GMG!
  2. Congrats on your new bundles of joys! My wife's relationship with her twin sister is an extremely tight bond that will never be broken.
  3. Great job by KRAM1 in pulling off another successful event to support UNT!
  4. Put me down for $25 on the Coach Mac/RV photo.
  5. Thanks for the excellent report.....I want to add one more thing that was said in response to your D Line question to Coach Mac. After Coach Patrick spoke, Coach Mac did point out that he was impressed with what he has seen of Syd Moore. I don't remember specifically if he was talking about Syd's off season or his chances for next season but it is still encouraging to hear a good report on a young DT.
  6. Not as cold as possible but definitely not Texas weather. Today's high is now suppose to be 29 with a low of 8 with 3-7 inches of snow and a wind chill of minus 7. No snow tomorrow but the high is only 17 with a low of -2.
  7. Here is Evanston's weekend forecast from the National Weather Service: Today: High of 21, Low of 19. 80% chance of snow tonight with 1-3 inches possible. Winds 10-15 mph. Saturday: High of 28, Low of 8. 100% chance of snow with 2-4 more inches possible. Winds 15 mph with gusts possible up to 25 mph. Sunday: High of 16, Low of 0. Winds 10-15 mph. That wind off of Lake Michigan is brutal in the winter!
  8. Xavier's picture was on the front page of the DMN Sports Page this morning with this article: http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/high-schools/matt-wixon/20140129-xavier-washington-kent-myers-know-pressure-of-waiting-for-late-offer.ece The exciting moments came on the field, where Washington was named the Defensive MVP of the Class 5A Division II title game in December and played in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on Jan. 5. Then came the tiring process of taking recruiters’ calls. “All day, every day,” Washington said last week. And then the confusing part: Why weren’t those calls ending with scholarship offers? “Especially after the state championship,” Washington said, “I was really, really surprised that I didn’t have everyone knocking on my door.” Until a player signs, the recruiting race — or chaos, madness or whatever — isn’t over. Early this week, as Washington was weighing whether to sign with UNT or Houston, Northwestern offered a scholarship. He’s planning a visit to the Evanston, Ill., campus this weekend. The offer comes in the wake of Frisco Wakeland defensive end Noah Westerfield switching his commitment from Northwestern to California. “Wherever I go, I’m going to produce,” Washington said. “And if you don’t sign me, you’re going to have to play against me.”
  9. I can't say for other schools but at UNT if a football player lives off campus he receives a monthly check that he is free to spend however he wishes for rent, food, travel, alcohol etc.
  10. My wife and I have lived in Chicago twice before and our daughter attended Northwestern so we are familiar with the school and the area. In Northwestern's favor it is a beautiful campus nestled along Lake Michigan and only 12 miles to downtown Chicago with excellent public transportation. Chicago is a fun city to live in the late spring, summer and early fall. The Big Ten is an elite conference. Like NorthTexan95 said it is a great school to get a degree from. Most all conference road games would be at or near sellout levels. A huge advantage in North Texas' favor is LOCATION! For my wife and I having a son play for the Mean Green and only 20 miles from our home allowed us to attend a very high number of practices, scrimmages, games and athletic department events over the five years he was on the team. The closest game to Cedar Hill for Northwestern in 2014 is Iowa City, IA which is 875 miles from Cedar Hill. In 2015 the closest game is in Lincoln, NE at 650 miles away. It is 950 miles away to go to the home games in Evanston and Chicago/Evanston is an expensive city to visit. Another obvious advantage is the weather. It is so much easier to get around town and do activities in 100 degrees then it is 20 degrees/snow/ice. Also historically the Big Ten has huge Offensive Lineman so therefore Xavier will get that to deal with most weeks compared to a majority of the competition in the Conference USA. Northwestern suffers a little of the same fate that UNT does being near a big city. The Cubs, Bears, Sox, Hawks, Bulls and even the Illini get much more attention from the local media and the public than NU. GMG!
  11. A very ridiculous statement considering the season we just had!
  12. KRAM1's prediction was indeed true......I was standing next to him while he was telling Drew Miller's father that he envisioned that type of play for a TD for Drew the next day.
  13. Way too many favorites from this great season to limit to just one so here are my most memorable ones: -Hearing George Dunham yell "Brelan Got Away" on his call of Chancellor's KO Return TD at Georgia. -Sed Ellis monster hit on the MUTS QB. -Finally experiencing a two game Mean Green winning streak. -At the UNT New Year's Eve party, KRAM1 predicted that Derek Thompson would roll right and throw back left to Drew Miller for a TD in the HOD game.
  14. I would be willing to make a small $ contribution towards the cost of this project.
  15. I do know that Coach Mac gives out 'ships to not just the walk ons that have contributed in significant game action but also he rewards hard working walkons who have stuck with the program but see very little game action. I believe that occasionally rewarding those walkons with a 'ship that work hard in practice on the scout team that helps the starters to play better is a good thing for the perception of the walk on program. If a future high school senior that is a walk on candidate for college football knows that coming to play at UNT gives him a chance for a future 'ship then we might be able to attract higher quality walkons that could see further game action.
  16. $28.90 which includes shipping for an 8 by 10 print. 8 by 10 is the smallest size you can order.
  17. Thanks for providing this link. I was able to purchase an individual print.
  18. I attended every open to the public UNT event this week in Dallas except for the Letterman's Association Reception. I have to say that the school and the athletic department did a great job with these. Shortly after we arrived at the Omni Hotel on Monday afternoon we went down to the Alumni Association Happy Hour at The Owner's Box sports bar. I appreciate Rob McKinney's efforts in handling this event including showing all of the Beyond The Green episodes on the TV's in the room he reserved for this event. We then headed to Babb's Bros BBQ for The Ticket HOD Preview Remote. Great to have Mean Joe, LD and RV on the air. An added bonus was listening to George Dunham and the Bird Dogs play afterwards. The Pep Rally was a lot of fun. The cheerleaders and the Green Brigade put on a good show. We never get up close to see and hear the opposition's coach, band and cheerleaders like this before any other game. The day was topped off by the New Year's Eve party. It was a classy event at a nice location with a great view of downtown from the 48th floor of the Thanksgiving Tower. The music and food were excellent. The location was big enough with additional rooms to go to if you wanted a quieter atmosphere. Nice touch was the University providing a chartered bus to get people to the party and back to the hotel. The North Texas Tailgate in the Embarcadero Building was very well attended. No way anyone there did not get fired up when the band and cheerleaders gave their performance. As we approached game time inside the stadium I thought about the ticket issue and how it might affect attendance. I looked to my right and to my left and all I saw was a sea of 35,000 + fans in green. Somehow some way the tickets were distributed in time. I will choose to look past the ticket problem and instead focus on how great my three days in Dallas were! Thanks again to the University and the Athletic Department for pulling this off!
  19. Richard Abbe: He had a solid HOD game including a key 3rd down batted down pass in the third quarter in which he followed the QB all the way to the sidelines. He far exceeded expectations for the season. The Defensive Line was considered by many going into the season as a weakness but instead ended up being one of our strongest units partly because of his contributions. I hope there is interest in him at the next level.
