  1. Winning the conference championship once every three years would be very acceptable!
  2. JUCO transfer, Gabe Hollivay was at summer conditioning last week. The Mean Green O Line is definitely getting bigger as he weighed in at 368 lbs!
  3. I too wish there was more promotion of the Mean Green throughout Denton and the Metroplex. I witnessed first hand what Hayden Fry was capable of. I was a student at the University of Iowa in 1978 when Hayden Fry was hired away from UNT. Iowa had just completed their 17th straight losing season. Hayden was a Master Salesperson and a Marketing Genuis to promote and grow the football program. Everywhere you went in Iowa City you would see the logo, the Tiger Hawk, that he created. In his third season he lead the Hawkeyes to the Rose Bowl. Todd Dodge is a proven winner. I am very confident that Todd will be a success and I predict he will have multiple Sun Belt titles in the very near future. Coming out of September with at least two wins will be a good start to better visibility and promotion of the team.
  4. If incoming JUCO players, Nate Jenkins (335 lbs.)and Gabe Hollivay (320 lbs.) start then we become not so small!
  5. A player who worked out with the team today told me.
  6. I have also heard about that.
  7. Redshirt freshman Justin Padron from Southlake did work out with the team today.
  8. My contact on the team gave me a guess of 40 players.
  9. Most of the team was there this morning. There are two summer sessions with each one lasting a month five days a week. All players are expected to be present for at least one of the monthly sessions. Today's workout was very intense with some of the players throwing up during or after the running.
  10. Nate Jenkins....at 6'4" 335 lbs with two years of JUCO experience, this three star rivals and four star scout rating recruit seems to me to be the one newcomer to contribute the most in 2008. It appears he will handle the Right Tackle starting position immediately in August. I would give Alonzo Horton a close second.
  11. The Mean Green football players started summer conditioning this morning bright and early at 6:30 A.M. They lifted weights and ran twenty three 110 yard dashes.
  12. Cole Frazier is a red shirt freshman from Argyle, TX. He was an invited walk on who was recruited as a Linebacker and a Long Snapper.
  13. The target of DeLoach's lengthy tirade was DB Germaine Dawson.
  14. The week before spring break Matt injured his shoulder in practice. It appears he will be having surgery soon. Not sure on when he will be able to play.
  15. Moreland appeared to be the better field goal kicker today. He made all six of his kicks and all were dead center. Knott was 3 out of 5 and Deans was 4 for 6. Knott has a stronger leg but Moreland is more accurate.
  16. With Kelvin Drake, Chad Rose, Matt Mennard and Matt Tomlinson out with injuries, there were only ten healthy offensive lineman that played in the scrimmage. The back ups were Jack Krumes, Zachary Highfill, Bradley Davidson, Troy Kokjohn and Jacob Kaiser.
  17. I was at the practice yesterday. I too was impressed by what I saw. I focused more on watching the Offense. The Offensive Line had a different look to it because of injuries (Drake, Rose and Menard) and players who left the team (Peachey and Banks). The following is who I saw being on the first team Offense: Right Tackle - Tyler Bailey Right Guard - Esteban Santiago Center - Bryan Glass Left Guard - JJ Johnson Left Tackle - Victor Gill Wide Receiver - Casey Fitzgerald Wide Receiver - Sam Dibrell Wide Receiver - Brock Stickler Wide Receiver - Sam Roberson Running Back - Micah Moseley Quarterback - Giovanni Vizza Also, between the two place kickers, Thomas Moreland looked slightly better on Field Goals than Jeremy Knott. Moreland made all his attempts and I think Knott might have only missed one.
  18. A couple of the new walkons have well know football fathers. Alex Lott is the son of former OU QB Thomas Lott. Also, Bryan Lockhart's father is former Cowboy LB Eugene Lockhart.
  19. A player told me there would be practice on Saturday but he did not know yet what time or where. The team was only having a meeting at 2:15 PM today and no practice.
