  1. I too selected LD in the last round.
  2. Just signed up for this event and looking forward to what hopefully will be back to back great Mean Green evenings!
  3. I certainly care about it.....in our recent past Casey Fitzgerald, Nathan Tune, Aaron Fortenberry, Ivan Delgado, Troy Kokjohn and Drew Miller among many others all were walkons. A walk on program is important for every team.
  4. That play for Lance reminded of his 83 yard TD reception against Indiana in 2011. Short pass then he shows his burst of speed. I liked how Jerry Jones said it might have been the Cowboys best play of the preseason. He is playing 15 lbs lighter for the Cowboys than he did for the Mean Green so I am hoping the Cowboys can get the ball more to him in space to utilize his speed.
  5. Thanks for the kind words for Kokjohn Long Snapping and our family. Troy truly enjoys giving instruction on the art of long snapping.
  6. Good summary KRAM1 as you covered pretty much everything that went on. For me more than anything events like last night are an opportunity to get together at a great venue with so many friends that share the common interest of Mean Green Sports and the University of North Texas!
  7. Great to see this morning an article and picture of Lance at the top of page one of the Dallas Morning News sports section!
  8. I was at Voertman's on Saturday looking at the flags. They had about 10 of them including one that was a smaller size that said Boat on the package.
  9. I only played football in the 8th grade and then played tennis for the Fort Madison (Iowa) High School Bloodhounds from 1974-1977. I was able to live out my sports dreams through my son. He played football for Hebron High School in Carrollton from 2003-2006. His high school record was 45-3 including a perfect 16-0 Class 4A State Championship season in 2005. The three losses were to Woodrow Wilson led by RB/LB Sergio Kindle and twice to Cedar Hill led by QB William Cole. My son went on to play for the Mean Green from 2007-2011. He loved UNT, Denton and playing on the team except for the 13-47 record.
  10. I watched the Fireworks from the Club Level last night. I have been going to see 4th of July activities for many years at many locations and hands down this was the best one I have attended! Thank you to the Kiwanis Club and the Athletic Department for a great night!
  11. Congrats on your graduation! Our family is rooting for you to make it to the NFL!
  12. I recall there was an issue for incoming DT recruit Syd Moore qualifying academically. Has any recent information come out on this situation?
  13. Idaho W Ohio L Ball State W Georgia L Tulane W MUTS L La Tech L Sou Miss W Rice L UTEP W UTSA W Tulsa L Overall 6-6 and hope for a bowl game.
  14. The two Iowa games were announced in July 2009 which was also pre-Apogee. The final approval step for Apogee was the Texas state funding approval which was in September 2009.
  15. Please educate me.....I don't understand why you are so specifically against the two games in Iowa City. Since I have been following the team we have played our big money games at OU in 2007, at LSU in 2008, at Bama in 2009, at Clemson in 2010, at Bama in 2011 and at LSU in 2012. What is the difference between playing two games in Iowa City versus playing two games at LSU and two games at Bama? We have a much greater chance of being competitive against Iowa than the SEC teams.
  16. I am probably one of the few here that is excited about playing Iowa and not just because it is my alma mater. This is a road game against a power conference team that the Mean Green can win. The Hawkeye program has been down the last three seasons with records of 8-5, 7-6 and 4-8. DMac coached teams always play tough against the Hawkeyes with him beating usually the top 25 ranked Hawkeyes six times while he was at Iowa State. As for the issues with two games in Iowa City with no return to Denton It would not surprise me with the Big Ten changing to a nine game conference schedule in 2016 that the 2017 game is bought out by the Hawkeyes.
  17. Good to see that Andrew Power is at the San Francisco 49er rookie camp. I really hope he can make the final roster! Saturday Practice Notes Catch of the day honors went to North Texas tight end Andrew Power who made a diving catch on a ball thrown to the left side of the field by B.J. Daniels. http://www.49ers.com/news/article-2/Reid-McDonald-Compete-on-Day-2/a4724a7c-3c53-4eb2-b26d-41cc208ab7db
  18. Where do you live/family: Carrollton - Married for 30 years with two children. Degree/Year Attended/Graduated UNT - Business Degree in 1981 from the University of Iowa. Favorite NT Sports Memory: Going on the field after my son's final college game to play in which was the 59-7 thrashing of MUTS in 2011 and being in a picture taken with him and Spiriki.
  19. I agree.....Last year at this time on a week night at Apogee there was nearly twice the crowd present compared to last night.
  20. I read the DMN everyday including seeing the story on Abbe in Friday morning's edition....but to be consistent with the times I found out about it first much earlier on gmg.com!
  21. It is very unfortunate that Richard Abbe has been arrested on such a serious offense as DWI along with the other offenses reported on this board. He was my son's roommate for one summer and his teammate for two seasons. My son liked him a lot and said he was a good person. He is a mountain of a man that is indeed a very likable guy. He was always polite and very respectful to my wife and me when we would talk to him. Hopefully Richard will learn from his mistakes. Coach Mac has a tough decision to make on his future with the team. I for one hope that he is allowed back on the Mean Green football team.
