  1. Last week I went to Denton and watched Hilbert Jackson graduate. It was awesome. I remember when he signed that someone posted on here that they wished he had backed out and gone somewhere else. I said then that he was a classy kid and we would be glad he signed. He went from redshirt to starter and the last two things he will do is walk across the stage and win a bowl championship. I couldn't be more proud of him.
  2. Rally House in Plano has nothing NT. He said Arlington and Flower Mound only.
  3. I think it is worth it. And, I think the food was better this year than it was the other two. The seats are great and the club has had something new to offer each year. I;m glad we did it.
  4. I feel the same way about The Sporting News. When they did not cover our New Orleans Bowl win over Cincinnatti, I promised to never buy one again. So far, so good. Same now goes for ESPN.
  5. Not the only player saying so. I've heard it from others.

    UNLV

    UNLV L Minnesota (8-4) 23-51 L Arizona (10-3) 13-58 W Cent Michigan (6-6) 31-21 W West Ill (4-8) 38-7 W New Mexico (3-9) 56-42 W Hawaii (1-11) 39-37 L Fresno St (11-1) 14-38 W Nevada (4-8) 27-22 L San Jose State (6-6) 24-34 L Utah State (8-5) 24-28 W Air Force (2-10) 41-21 W San Diego State (7-5) 45-19 So, their only win against a team with a winning record is SDSU. That is a good win. Don't really see any bad losses. Beat the teams they should. Lost when they should. Should be fun.

I'm hearing from the team that it is UNLV. Fine with me. Ten years from now and nobody will care who we beat in a January 1 bowl. Just WIN.
  8. I agree with Dajon. He is a future stud too, but my second choice would be Sed Ellis
  9. I'm going on record. RS Freshman Mark Lewis is going to be a stud. I'm making the call now. He will be our next great running back. Anyone else have a Freshman or Soph that will be a standout? Make your call.

"Samsonite! I was way off"
  11. That team was also Missouri Valley Champions. They beat Louisville 30-28, Cincinnatti 34-14, Colorado State 21-10, and Tulsa 54-12. That made the Mean Green back-to-back MVC champions. Good Times!
  12. I was born when my parents were at NT. Went to classes there before my first birthday. We moved away when I was one, but came back in the Ft. Worth area when I was in 4th grade. Mom and dad started going to the games and I wanted to go too. Dad said to save my money and buy my season ticket. It was $20 for season tickets then (4 home games), but I did just that. I've been going since 1974. Graduated from there twice (B.Ed in '86 and M. Ed in '94). My wife has a degree from there too. We were there at the same time, but did not meet since she was in the College of Business. I also have one grandmother, two aunts, an uncle, and my daughter with UNT in their blood.
  13. And it was just short of the 32,285 we totaled by adding everyone that came from 2005 to 2008.
  14. Yes it was. Previous best was 17,011 vs. West Kentucky in 2011
  15. Yesterday 26,119 6th largest home crowd ever 4th largest home crowd in Denton 2nd largest home crowd in Apogee 2nd largest crowd to see us win largest crowd to see a win in Apogee 2nd largest back-to-back crowds ever Averaging 21,369 through 5 home games Need 13,153 to average 20,000 for the first time ever A crowd of 25,000 would make us an average of 21,974 Everyone is welcome on the bandwagon. See you in Denton in two weeks.
  16. You have to go back to 1979 to find that as a I-A school. We played UTEP and UTA back to back. I would need to check and make sure we didn't play UTA in the Cotton Bowl one of those years. We also did that in 1978. In 1977 we played West Texas State/UTA back to back at home. I didn't count 2001 when we played TCU / Texas Tech since the Tech game was in Irving.
  17. We have to be better than 16394 this week, don't we? And 23,000 would but us at 45835 for back to back crowds (3rd best ever). 4th Home Game 2003 vs. Troy 11128 2004 vs. Monroe 10893 2005 vs. Monroe 19632 2006 vs. La Tech 11103 2007 vs. Navy 26012 2008 vs. Troy 18345 2009 vs. W. 18. Anyone know the status of Pegram? I thought I saw him on crutches Saturday.
  19. Last night's crowd of 22835 was the 14th largest crowd in NT history. It was the 4th largest crowd to see us win. We are averaging 20,182 for our four home games. Our best home attendance ever is 19,512 in 1994. We need to average 19,636 over our last two to hit 20,000 for the first time. A crowd of 25,000 for homecoming (I hope) would mean we need 14,272 at the last one. Also, 25,000 would be our 9th largest crowd. See all of you next Saturday. Wear Green. Be loud.
  20. I am very proud of these young men on this football team. The coaches are awesome. This is a very special TEAM. Looking in the rear view mirror, we have come a long way. The TEAM knows they have certain things they have to improve - both as a team and at the individual level. They understand they are all a piece of the bigger picture. Coaches have to work with the talent on hand and we do have some talent. The coaches and players are looking at the wholistic picture. Players have to continually get better with every game played. AND They know it. I am not saying anything everyone does not already know. The players know the coaches are trying to recruit someone better every year than what they currently have. This team supports one another. They are the UNT Football family and they are representing us extremely well. We, as Alumni and supporters, should focus our energy on getting people to the games. More game attendees, more revenue, more donations, more scholarships = more talent, more wins, etc. LET's stay positive. Continue to Believe in this team. LET the coaches do their job. They live & breath this profession just like we do with our own professions. Let's recruit folks to attend the game Thursday! They will feel the energy and they will not be disappointed. Encourage people to join the Mean Green club and/or the Alumni Association. Support our Team and our University.
  21. The people at Southern Miss were the most friendly opponents I have EVER visited, and it isn't even close. 1) We were invited at least 5 times to sit down and join a Southern Miss tailgate while walking from our car to the stadium. I usually don't arrive at our games in time to tailgate, but I would hope we are half this nice to our visiting fans. 2) We did not have tickets. As we walked around the stadium to find the ticket office, a Southern Miss fan asked it we were looking for the ticket office and needed tickets. When we said "Yes", he gave us two $35 tickets. People continued to come up to us, shake our hands, and offer us something to eat. Wow. 3) Almost every person we passed wearing black and gold said "Welcome to Hattiesburg." Even during the game, the people around us were praising our team and thanking us for coming. 5) After the game, Southern Miss fans again thanked us for coming, told us to be safe going home, and were hopeful we would come back in two years. I certainly learned first hand what Southern Hospitality is really like. 6) We should never complain about our parking. There is none around the stadium in Hattiesburg. We parked on the median of the highway because everyone else did. It was a litle like going to Austin. Anything around the stadium was roped off and there wasn't anyone that worked there that could tell you where you could park. 7) I-20 is the longest, straightest road in America.
  22. The problem with Apogee is that it is not halfway between any schools. Most look for a neutral site somewhere between the two schools. There are just not that many schools north of DFW that would use a stadium that large. Small schools north of Apogee usually will pick a smaller stadium so the crowd has a larger impact on the game. When I coached at a 3A, we would use 5A stadiums without a track. We played once at Fouts, but our favorite was The Bone Yard at Lake Highlands. Even when I was at a 5A, we would often try to stay on high school fields with turf. It is just not that big of a deal to the coaches to play at a college stadium.
  23. Just made our plans. My wife is awesome. Have wanted to go there since we beat them back in '77. Remember watching the Mean Green show on Saturday morning and seeing the Golden Eagle fall flat on his beak after we scored. Have wanted to see that in person ever since..
  24. I love the third question. I hold my breath every time he gets the ball. It could be a TD, or it could be anything else.
  25. I could not tell which were passes "downfield", but I can tell you run/pass ratio on 1st and 2nd down from each of our games (except I did not include Georgia). Idaho First half 18 runs, 18 passes Second half 18 runs, 14 passes Ball State First half 9 runs, 23 passes Second half 25 runs, 11 passes Middle Tennessee First half 19 runs, 9 passes Second half 29 runs, 9 passes Home total First half 46 runs, 43 passes Second half 72 runs, 34 passes Away Ohio First half 21 runs, 10 passes Second half 10 runs, 10 passes Tulane First half 10 runs, 7 passes Second half 5 runs, 24 passes La Tech First half 15 runs, 8 passes Second half 26 runs, 6 passes Road Total First half 46 runs, 25 passes Second half 41 runs, 40 passes. So, now you know. You are welcome.
