I don’t recall a coach at UNT who has more of his highest rated recruits leave. Littrell’s retention of the top recruits has been quite disappointing.

Ok so without any question Gunnell is the top rated and top performing at the highest level QB we have ever had here. The fact that we have fans trying to discuss scenarios where he would not come in and immediately start just blows my mind. Guys, Gunnell is our day one starter period! There is no question and I promise you he absolutely did not transfer here for any other reason. Littrell needs to stop with the bullshit around who is the guy. He's been playing that game the whole time he's been here and it's not fair to the kids who come here to play QB. A great example is Kason Martin, he should have never been told that he had a chance here to play. Name your day one starter and be honest about it. The players, parents and fans appreciate honesty.

Man Littrell and the staff are really finishing extremely strong. Very encouraging. Also like that this young man is from Houston. Could open up a pipeline.

Why should we care about Hope? She abandoned UNT after we were the only school giving her a scholarship.

In my opinion, this is a game changer for Littrell. With the easy schedule, he may well win 8-9 games with a solid QB like Gunnels. Big win for Littrell. May well get him an extension.

There is no doubt Littrell was especially slow to move to the transfer portal. We are paying the price. NIL is still new. SMU is ranked high because of Sonny and his hard work on transfers.

Yeah well that’s real easy for you to say being a SMUt fan and all. You guys were all born rich and so yeah NIL doesn’t move the needle that much on the Hilltop. UNT is more of a working man’s college and we don’t have as much expendable income as you guys do.

As many predicted, the NIL program has become a monster in college recruiting. Nobody should begrudge college athletes making money by endorsing stuff. Using their name, image and likeness to bring in some coin is a fine idea. It’s only fair since universities and coaches are making millions off their labor. But what’s happening now is getting out of hand. The high school class of 2023 will be the first to maneuver money packages as part of their scholarships and college destination. It has become a circus complete with organ grinder monkey boosters. Now, college administrators and coaches are demanding tweaks and more guidelines. College coaches in the state of Utah are currently met with discussions of NIL opposing offers from recruits in the realm of a quarter of a million dollars or more. It appears from my vantage point that the UNT football program is going through some changes. Littrell pulled a rabbit out of his hat against UTSA and that win cannot ever be denied. Can you imagine what we would be up against if the San Antonio technical college had gone undefeated last season? I can promise you SIncere McCormick would have decided to sick around for their bowl game after that. Littrell then proceeded to crap the bed against Ohio and thus here we find ourselves in this current mess. And if you think other teams recruiting against us aren't using this against us you are extremely naive.

In particular I have noticed we seem to offer every recruit that UTSA does well after they offer. Do they not understand that recruits notice this? Ugh.

You make a valid point. I think has made some mistakes and yet he is really trying to turn this thing around. He had never been a head coach before and needed some on the job training. The K-State deal really threw a wrench in things and now we have to hope that he can somehow find his way out of the darkness.
