  1. College football's game of conference musical chairs has taken a few more turns, and the tunes may not have stopped yet. Conference USA and Sun Belt C-USA subtractions: Alabama-Birmingham, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, North Texas, Rice, Texas-San Antonio. (Southern Miss also is expected to depart, although that is not official.) C-USA additions: none C-USA future look: Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, UTEP, Western Kentucky Sun Belt subtractions: none Sun Belt additions: Southern Miss (expected but not official) Sun Belt future look: Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State, Troy For most of its existence, Conference USA's role has been to act as a way station for programs moving either up or down in the college football hierarchy. Its name is as noncommittal as possible when it comes to specific membership or region. Twenty percent of FBS programs have belonged to C-USA at one point or another, and of its original football members, only Alabama-Birmingham and Southern Miss remain in the conference. UAB just arranged to leave and Southern Miss may not be far behind. C-USA loses programs to conferences greater in the hierarchy and plucks from conferences lower. What we've found over the last week is that there might not be anyone lower in the hierarchy anymore. In the last round of major conference realignment, C-USA lost a number of members (East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa and UCF) to the AAC, then turned around and raided the Sun Belt. But they aimed for schools close to major markets and long known for having football potential; in response, the Sun Belt brought in well-supported football programs -- Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern -- and quickly surpassed C-USA from a football perspective. Now it appears that the Sun Belt will officially add Southern Miss soon, and it might not stop there: Rumors suggest it is likely the Sun Belt will also pluck Marshall and Old Dominion away from C-USA, and also add FCS powerhouse James Madison. read more: https://news.google.com/articles/CBMimAFodHRwczovL3d3dy5lc3BuLmNvbS9jb2xsZWdlLWZvb3RiYWxsL3N0b3J5L18vaWQvMzI0NjUxMzIvY29sbGVnZS1mb290YmFsbC1jb25mZXJlbmNlLXJlYWxpZ25tZW50LXRyYWNrZXItcmVtYWluaW5nLXF1ZXN0aW9ucy1uZXh0LXN0ZXBzLWxhdGVzdC1zaGFrZS11cNIBpQFodHRwczovL3d3dy5lc3BuLmNvbS9jb2xsZWdlLWZvb3RiYWxsL3N0b3J5L18vaWQvMzI0NjUxMzIvY29sbGVnZS1mb290YmFsbC1jb25mZXJlbmNlLXJlYWxpZ25tZW50LXRyYWNrZXItcmVtYWluaW5nLXF1ZXN0aW9ucy1uZXh0LXN0ZXBzLWxhdGVzdC1zaGFrZS11cD9wbGF0Zm9ybT1hbXA?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen
  2. As well it should be. North Texas sounds very directional.
  3. Does anyone know where the green brigade stands in terms of the AAC bands? I know SMUt only has like a high school band but not as sure as the rest of them.
  4. We’re all tired with the co start changes but the kids like it and it keeps them motivated so In good with it myself.
  5. We may not like China but the rest of the world is ok with them. I also think their economic power allows countries to look the other way.
  6. And having family in or near Cowtown I am glad that we can have another reason to visit and spend time there. UNT has a fair amount of alumni in Ft. Worth as I understand it.
  7. Yes exactly. People say we won’t support the program but the program has rarely provided any results on the field. When it has we have seen interest and donations rise. Look at our coaching salaries and budget. That was directly tied to Littrell’s good years. The stadium tied to Dickeys success. If we win the conference and get into the top 25 and see no increase I will agree with the doubters.
  8. I do not see Jimbo leaving A&M. He has more there than he would ever have at LSwho They can pay Dykes to ignore attendance Aranda seems like the real deal but he is still living off of Rhules players no? Traylor is as good as gone! He can’t wait to get out of that hell hole! Stick a fork in Patterson he’s done. He might end up being a UNT candidate. Agree in Seth he screwed up staying here knowing what he built was on a deck of cards.
  9. He’s also learned from his mistakes I’m thinking. My only worry is he’s made so much money he may want to coast aka Danny Mac.
  10. And I always stated we should invite Liberty to CUSA and for some stupid reason they never were and now CUSA is about to fold.
  11. Good post but I disagree. We just have had bad bad bad coaching hires. Hire a good football coach and we will be a consistent top 25 year mark my words.
  12. Again who is deciding he is a 4 star talent? What’s the criteria? Dude played for a small school and a small state that rarely has 4 star talent. UNC didn’t want him and that’s why he’s here. Sick of all the bs being spewed by these recruiting services.
  13. Why do people keep saying how much talent is on this roster? A bunch of bogus “recruiting” experts selling subscriptions? From what I see on the field - I’m not buying it. We can do better.
  14. I mean we’re 1-6 we’re you expecting a sellout? 3 straight losing seasons tends to impact your attendance typically.
  15. I didn’t think Skip would come before but now I think he would at least consider it.
  16. UNT curse - We can’t we ever pay ourselves on the back or give ourselves a modicum of credit!
  17. Why did you prefer it? Seems like people ar trying to act like the MWC is the SEC. it’s a bunch of shitty teams in cold climates that play their games in the wee hours of the morning. Quit putting lipstick on a pig. Most of those teams can’t carry our jock if we have a head coach with a pulse. Wyoming? New Mexico? San Jose State? Fresno? Who cares
  18. I have it from a very good source who is a season ticket holder at SMUt that there is a last minute uprising of their big money donors to force Rick Hart the SMU AD to disavow NT from joining their conference. Please keep Wren and company at the AD in your prayers as they and their lawyers battle to fend off this last minute attack from the Hilltop. SMU wants nothing to do with NT and I will not believe that we join them in a conference until I see it in writing and duplicate.
