  1. My guess would be idle curiosity mostly. I’m not saying they don’t care. I just don’t think they care as much as we often think they do. It’s kind of like the 1-star Google review in a sea of 4’s and 5’s. I may note it, but I’m going to keep on moving.
  2. I think this question does two things: 1- it overvalues the quality of our opinions 2- it overvalues how much a recruit and their family care about our opinions
  3. It’s definitely still going to hurt recruiting. Nobody is going to want to use their NIL $’s to pay for school, room and board.
  4. For those of us who aren’t going to watch the video, what’s the partnership?
  5. Sports have proven to pretty much be recession-proof. Now as far as interests shifting, I don’t see that happening in my lifetime.
  6. I think what all of this is proving is that a school sitting in a particular TV market doesn’t necessarily deliver that market. SDSU/SMU/St John’s/Syracuse sit in big markets, but do they put more eyeballs on screens?
  7. You know what hasn’t been talked about here enough? SMU conference realignment…
  8. If you go read the details and timeline WVU released, it’s actually kind of hard to find a misstep on their part. It sounds like WVU conceded some things to make it easier for Huggins during some hard days of his life. LINK “Moreover, Mr. Gianola specifically requested the University send language that the University would find acceptable in such a resignation notification. In an effort to accommodate Mr. Huggins, the University agreed to accept the notification from Mrs. Huggins’ email account and to send language we would find acceptable.” ”Prior to submitting his notification to the University, on the evening of June 17, 2023, Mr. Huggins met with members of the men’s basketball staff and student- athletes to announce that he would no longer be coaching the team. We understand that Mr. Huggins specifically told the team that he was resigning.“
  9. Hedlund has talked about this for years. He says that when he wears “North Texas” prospects and their families tend to ask him what club team he coaches, but people know who UNT is. As someone who lives in Denton, my experience is that people generally say UNT. Outside of Athletics, I just don’t think most people say North Texas. I would actually argue that this is exactly what Marketing is there to do. I just want them to pick, stick with, and fully market whatever they decide on. We have spent too much time putting out twenty shades of green and trying to decide who we are. At this point I just want consistency and a full court press on brand awareness.
  10. On the hot seat… In hot water… he’s neither
  11. Meh, I think he’s only on the hot seat in the minds of fans who think every time there’s an ounce of drama that someone is on the hot seat. There’s no way that all the power players at WVU weren’t involved in every step of this whole thing. This is just a coach trying to get a few more $’s.
  12. This is such crap. Law firms, even “respected ones,” take crap cases on behalf of their clients all the time.
  13. I can’t really speak to that, but student fees make up 30% of our revenue while ticket sales and contributions only make up 8% of our revenue.
  14. I think the biggest challenge we have boils down to $’s going into our program. Students can’t continue doing the heavy lifting forever.
  15. I think this logic is part of our issue at UNT. Everyone uses the wins/losses as an excuse to either get on board or not. I support UNT because my family enjoys the tailgating/games/being with other fans/etc not because they are good or bad. Texas A&M, for the most part, has been a middle of the pack kind of football program but they are a high revenue department anyway. You can’t expect UNT leadership to provide the kind of funding it takes to be successful. Fans/alums/etc have to do that.
  16. Maybe I’m in the minority on this, but I’d much rather see the university put their money into enhancing the fan experience in and around the stadium for 6 games a year than a couple of hours one Saturday a year.
  17. I’m pretty sure field logos always face the direction they need to be from the main high 50 camera so they are right side up on TV.
  18. A thread about BYU botching a Big XII logo even brings out posts about SMU. Dang, y’all… off-season sucks!
  19. One Big XII logo is on the 15 yard line and one is on the 25 yard line.
  20. Not enough interest from the students for what UNT was spending on it.
  21. Giving $'s to a player is not charity. As such, the money given to these collectives is not and should not be considered a tax benefit to the "donor."
  22. In recruiting, everything matters. Each thing is of different importance for each recruit. It's not just facilities. It's not just coaching. It's not just academics. It's not just location. It's a mix of all of the above plus some other things I'm sure that is weighted differently by each athlete.
  23. I give Texas State a lot of credit for what they’ve done with that facility. That stadium used to barely be a high school-quality stadium. They’ve pulled off a lot of consistency and held onto their history in how they’ve expanded it, despite it being done in phases.
  24. I mean the AAC is better than CUSA, but I’m not paying $34M to join the AAC.
