  1. Isn’t The Eagle’s Nest already there for non-UNT sports conversations?
  2. Gonzaga seems to be okay so far. May even be on the Big 12’s radar because of their basketball.
  3. Anyone who got up there want to share how it was? It looked like a decent number of cars were there when I cruised by.
  4. I get what you’re saying, but they do have higher ticket sales numbers and higher donation $’s than us.
  5. If we somehow end up in a conference with Stanford, I sure hope we find a way to hit the gas pedal on the AC expansion and new basketball/volleyball arena. Could you imagine a volleyball team at the level Stanford plays at coming to our volleyball gym?
  6. At this point, it kind of feels like these reporters don't know any more than we do. They're just throwing out random thoughts and hoping one of them will stick so they can say, "see? I told you."
  7. I also appreciated that he was straight up about our 1's on each side of the ball standing up, even to American levels. Mentioned the coaches take ownership of helping the 2's and 3's get there.
  8. 12-day tv window announcements definitely add a wrinkle we haven't typically had to worry about.
  9. Pete Thamel is legit though. If he’s tweeting it, you know there’s truth to it.
  10. No way the raid of the ACC is 10 years down the road. I’ll be shocked if it hasn’t happened by the 2025 season.
  11. I would argue that had more to do with excitement around our program than playing Army at that time. We only had 200 fewer fans than that the week before against UTEP.
  12. But outside of that game, playing the service academies isn’t getting you a prime time tv slot or selling out your stadium.
  13. I don’t really get the fascination with the service academies. They just don’t move the needle very much.
  14. Anyone still talking about P5 is just delusional at this point.
  15. I agree with you completely. Especially when you think about it from non-football/basketball sport perspective. I really just don't see how schools will even be able to sustain this. Travel budgets are going to get ridiculous. Time away from campus is going to get ridiculous. For football, I don't think it's a huge deal. You're chartering flights, traveling out on a Friday, back after the game on Saturday. That's not that different. Just longer flights, I guess. For all the other sports that would be flying commercial flights (outside of a few basketball teams with access to private jets), it just seems insane.
  16. We will have to agree to disagree. As @NorthTexasWeLove said, coaches already go where they need to to get talent. For almost all, if not all, programs that already includes Texas.
  17. With the added travel costs with the cross-nation conferences, I'm starting to wonder if a good solution would be to let football and maybe basketball stand on their own while having sub-"conferences" that are more regional for all the other sports. I just don't know how this cross-nation model is going to be sustainable in the long run for sports other than football or basketball. Maybe I'm underestimating the $'s the conference affiliations are going to bring into the schools, but with most schools only balancing budgets with the student tax I just don't see how schools will be able to fund the cross-nation model for long.
  18. I’m so curious how these schools are going to be able to afford to send all their sports to each side of the country? Is the revenue from adding these schools really going to cover the increase in travel costs or are schools just going to jack up their student athletic fees to cover this?
  19. I don’t even know why people keep posting anything related to the Power 5 anymore. It’s going to get blown up. There’s no way the SEC/Big 10 in their future states are going to let these other conferences be on equal footing.
  20. Agreed. There’s no way the PAC gets through this with A5 status.
  21. But let’s be real. The current playoff guidelines are probably getting blown up in the next 1-2 years.
  22. I would much rather us position ourselves to go east than west at this point. Finding a way to end up with the ACC remnants (assuming it starts to fall apart like the PAC) seems way better than aligning with the PAC remnants. I feel like the east coast is better for media contracts. I also don’t get the fascination with the service academies. They just don’t really move the needle for me.
