  1. Honestly, I’m not sure how much the Morris offense is going to be like the Leach Air Raid, but part of the beauty of the Leach Air Raid is that it tends to put up huge passing stats no matter who the receivers are. I’m not that worried about losing Shorter. I expect the passing game to get their stats and score points either way.
  2. The whole premise of this thread is kind of funny to me. It acts like fans are model citizens when it comes to how they act and what they say about athletes. LOL But no. It’s just now fans are going to start jeering players. And they better be okay with it. LOL
  3. If schools start signing players to more than 1 year at a time, I think it should be on the table. Right now (in the 1 year scholarship world) what would you even be buying out?
  4. As soon as coaches and schools decided they would just buy their way out of any contract, you had to know the day was coming for athletes to do the same. Why have a higher standard for athletes than the schools and coaches they play for?
  5. The problem a lot of these recommendations are going to run into, in my opinion, is that any rules that make it harder on players to sign NIL deals or transfer are probably going to end up in the courts. After the last court case, I don’t think the schools or NCAA are going to be excited about leaving this stuff to the courts to decide.
  6. I wonder what he had for breakfast? Any of you who follow his life so closely know? I’d like to know how he starts his day.
  7. The hype with Deion is certainly a cash cow for Colorado in the short run. We will see if it pays off in the long run. If they win some games, it could be a long term win for them. We will see how that part plays out. The short term wins will fade out if the product on the field doesn’t match up with the hype. I think there’s a lot being said publicly by Deion and the players that isn’t typically played out publicly. I don’t really have a problem with it because I think those things are happening everywhere. As far as “cutting” players goes, these guys will be just fun. Hell, my junior high had cuts for 7th grade basketball back in the day. It’s just part of the game, and I don’t think it’s new to college football.
  8. Let’s be real. This isn’t a one or the other approach. A team that went 1-11 needs both better coaches and better players.
  9. Right, but you're alleging the NCAA should be enforcing it. I'm trying to figure out if it's an NCAA rule or if it was more of a soft agreement between conferences that the NCAA had nothing to do with.
  10. I've been trying to figure out if that was sort of a gentlemen's agreement or an actual NCAA rule change. One thing I think is interesting is that the NCAA has allowed true multi-year scholarships since 2012. Coaches and programs have not chosen to go that route. Hmmmm. Maybe Deion isn't the only one not willing to commit 4 years to athletes.
  11. I hear what you're saying. I just don't believe the power players are going to let that happen. Right, wrong or indifferent, I think there will continue to be a case made by a lot of folks that a two or even three loss SEC/BIg10 team deserves to be in the playoffs more than a second "G5" team. We'll see how it plays out, I guess.
  12. Why do you assume they’re not looking at the stats? It is possible to decide you’re better off leaving, even if you don’t get a new scholarship offer.
  13. Add SMU and UTSA to the topic list and it would probably get more traffic than the rest of the boards combined. Haha
  14. Maybe, maybe not… I think we will see how the committee ranks the teams. Only one “G5” is guaranteed a spot. If the remaining 11 spots are all “P5” teams, are the have nots actually in a better spot? UNT had one of our best seasons ever in basketball and the committee found a way to leave them out of a 64+ team tournament.
  15. I agree with the above in that the P5 designation is going to go away. However, I do not expect the idea behind it to ever go away. There are always going to be programs and/or conferences that are looked at as "premier" and programs and/or conferences that are looked at as "the rest." The thing that may change will be where the line is drawn. Charlotte? Why would you choose Charlotte?
  16. My guess is it has more to do with the lead time to get them from Nike. I would bet that since jerseys for a college are basically custom, they’re probably ordering in Dec/Jan for delivery in June/July to then add further customization (names/patches/etc) by the first game.
  17. I was thinking this afternoon about how we always talk about getting non-UNT alums in Denton behind this program. Hear me out on this: All But One Club (playing off the idea that you are a Mean Green fan for all but one game when they play your alma mater) - Funds go to the MGSF - Minimum donation amount slightly lower than standard - Access to tickets in limited premium seating areas (instead of a season ticket, make it a 3 game mini plan to FB and maybe a 5 game mini plan to MBB/WBB) - Maybe even throw in a parking pass to the games they select - Some kind of exclusive coach chat during sport preseasons - Gives MGSF and ticket sales staff leads of people they could start cultivating into full blown MGSF and season ticket holders as they make it out to games with their friends and family
  18. I’m holding all judgment on Coach Prime until he has a couple of FBS seasons under his belt. He’s certainly got everyone talking about his program. That’s free recruiting exposure and marketing. We’ll see how it translates on the field soon enough.
  19. I just don't believe coaches are intentionally playing guys they don't think give them the best shot at winning. In all of this coaches and ADs are the only ones with their job on the line every game. You may disagree with who they played, but I don't think they intentionally said, "This guy gives us a better chance at winning, but we should play this other guy."
  20. Them having a good spring doesn’t mean Rogers didn’t have a good spring. I promise coaches will role with who they think gives them the best shot at winning. Unlike us, they see them everyday.
  21. I’m so curious what exactly they’ve done to make you think he’s getting preferential treatment?
  22. I’d also like them to put a time limit on instant replay reviews. If it takes more than a minute or two to decide one way or the other, the call on the field should stand.
