  1. Its in Queens, not Manhattan! I briefly looked at SJU when looking for grad schools, its a very unique university, its not for every student and that includes athletes. I dont know if they have the easiest time recruiting, sure its NYC, but there are plenty of quality programs near NYC. They do have Pitino, but how long is he sticking around?
  2. I usually have more respect for Texas Monthly's BBQ rankings, as I am a huge BBQ fan, but some of these locations are quite a ways from their schools. I have not heard of Interstellar, and was in Austin last weekend (went to Franklin's).
  3. The Ivy league is higher on that list then the MWC, what is the MWC doing right??
  4. Its not personal its business... The players are no longer playing for an education, they are playing for money. With that mentality its almost a requirement for players to dip into the portal, this how it works in the professional world.
  5. Those top HS recruits are not planning to play college ball for 4 years, they want to be in a top program where they noticed and can go play pro ball. most of those players are coming from top HS programs, that are coached as well as some college programs. there are also a lot of talented HS players, that have not had the benefit of playing under quality coaches. those players may take some time to come around to the college game. I dont see UNT being able to attract those players right out of high school at the moment. however a lot of those players become available later down the road as transfers.
  6. Ross did well in the portal after taking over, now that he has a year of experience I think he has a better understanding of which moves to make.
  7. Very talented player, but for what ever reason the chemistry was not there. The team seemed to be lacking that one player that glued everyone together, but you will not have one of those every year.
  8. Kind of a no brainer if you ask me, he's coming off 20 wins, he knows the conference and recruiting at this level.
  9. year 2 will be interesting, players move around a lot now. I think with every class you need to find at least 1 big. UNT has also had good luck recruiting at the juco level.
  10. I didnt expect SMU to keep their coach going into the ACC, they spent a ton of money to get into that conference, why wouldnt they spend the money on a competitive coach that can recruit a new crop of players with their NIL money.
  11. I have a feeling this could turn into another Pac12 debacle... Notre Dame might decide they would rather not be left out of a super conference and join the Big10. The Big12 will emerge as the next best thing to the Super conferences, and will probably attract interest from Virginia and Georgia Tech. At which point Cal and Stanford might decide its not worth it to remain in the ACC, and try and build something out of the old Pac12 along with the MWC.
  12. true, there will be multiple suits, but once the 2 super conferences are set there will be no going back. It will not matter what they have to pay in legal fees and penalties, being in the top conference will be worth it.
  13. I think its safe to say they will both be in the SEC, and that deal would be way more lucrative then what they are earning in the ACC, and ultimately worth the exit fee. The ACC media deal becomes an option for ESPN after 2027, and with out the heavy weights, ESPN may not want to pick up that deal.
  14. Clemson and FSU have an argument, they are essentially carrying this conference. But I think the message it sends to the rest of the conference is that they can do this the easy way or the hard way. Both schools have the means to leave if they really want to, but this can get nasty and have a drastic financial impact on the remaining programs.
  15. I give this season a B- the defensive side of the ball was good. However the offensive side seemed confused more often then not with what to do. At times they were very sloppy in bounding the ball and moving the ball out of the back court under a heavy press. The did recruit well, finding a lot of good role players, but a primary ball handler never emerged that could take advantage of those players.
  16. Those 3 schools combined will not generate the revenue that FSU or Clemson bring on their own. And if those top schools leave for the Big 10 or SEC, then would the ACC still be a "power conference" worthy of 2 playoff spots?
  17. Honestly I was expecting the university to cover all costs... its not like they need to make money off this, they have busses and drivers, not to mention its good optics for the university to have large student crowd at the games.
  18. $50 per day thats insane for a UNT grad let alone a UNT student, what are they thinking???
  19. very very sloppy basketball, totally out coached... they still have no clue how to in bound the ball especially when there is a press.
  20. and I would rather have a defensive head coach, but they need to bring in an assistant who can organize the offense, and make adjustments.
  21. Right now I would give Hodge a B- I think he did a good job building and recruiting this team. There is a lot of individual talent, and they still haven't quite come together but they are on the right path. On the defensive side of the ball they are as good as we expected. However on the offensive side, they do seem a bit sloppy at times, they are not very good at in bounding the ball under heavy pressure, and sometimes struggle to advance the ball out of the back court.
  22. Its early, and I am not sure how closely they are looking at the AAC. Its likely Lunardi took a quick look at the AAC and saw 2 ranked teams (FAU & Memphis), and the first place team (UNT), and based his bracket on that. ...And a 13 seed?? Assuming UNT wins the tournament, they would likely have to go through 2-3 Q1 teams to win it, including Memphis and FAU whom he has seeded at 5 and 6, that should earn more then a 13 seed.
  23. ECU played very good perimeter defense against UNT, knowing we like to shoot the 3, and it did force some really poor shots at times. However UNT was able to adjust drive the ball inside and get easy buckets.
  24. UNT certainly has the defense to win the AAC... I dont think FAU and Memphis are unbeatable, and the confernce as a whole looks a lot better then many predicted in the preseason, there could be 5-6 schools that have a chance at winning the AAC tournament, depending how the bracket looks. As for the NCAA tournament, most bracketologists have FAU and Memphis in, I dont think that the other schools in the conference have done enough to get into the at large conversation yet.
