  1. if a major realignment is on the horizon (and I think it is) then why move now? I would rather be the big fish in a small pond when realignment happens.
  2. The Cotton Bowl is such an iconic part of college football, its a shame that the city of Dallas does not really want to get behind this game.
  3. up on belt line they have: Twin Peaks, Buffalo Wild wings, Hooters, Stadium Cafe... all places that will be showing the game.
  4. would North Dallas / Addison area work for anyone?
  5. I usually watch Henderson tap house, or Chrities in up town... but if there is going to be a watching party in the city then I will be there
  6. I actually went to both UNT (undergrad) and SMU (masters)... I actually think that SMU does a better job of organizing the tailgating (boulevarding) and parking. SMU has a lot of parking north of the stadium, though it might be a 10 min walk.... The parking for a UNT game is so unorganized, I have convinced many other alums to finally come back to a game, only to hear them complain that it took them an hour to figure out parking, they need a cash lot right next to the stadium (the empty space next to the alumni center would be perfect).
  7. how many fans would really make the trip to NO bowl in 2 weeks? that would also mean the schools that finished below us in the standings would get better bowl bids
  8. so any suggestions? uptown, north Dallas, Addison.
  9. if there is a Dallas watching party I will come out, didn't really want to go all the way to Collin country
  10. Playing in DFW (a top 5 media market) against a Big 12 team would give us more exposure in terms of recruiting where we really need it. I would prefer K-state, but would also settle for Tech.
  11. does Tech really have a choice when it comes to bowl games? they were the lowest placed team in their conference to qualify for a bowl.
  12. HOD bowl would be good for both TT and UNT, plus it will draw a record crowd for HOD
  13. easiest way to get there is the train, couple of nice pubs across the street from where the train stop if you need to make a pit stop. I would like to tail gate, but probably just take the train
  14. I'm an alumni of both schools, though I got my undergrad at UNT... being involved with both schools I would not say that SMU alums have more money, rather the school is better at getting money out of their alumni. SMU has a very strong connection with their alumni association, they wine us and dine us, and then out come our check books. I have always been a UNT football fan and make most home games, but that alumni center next to the stadium is a joke, its a tool shed with a bathroom, hardly anyone is ever in there. if you ask me, the school needs to turn the alumni center around on game day, make it a place that every alum wants to visit on game day, free drinks and food, shake hands with former players, and the check books will come out.
