  1. My thought, Mac is going to play for the win remainder of this year. But it sounds like he has already opened the PR door for more rotation. I think QB will get resolved by next year, but DL and secondary keep me awake. The OL doesn't trouble me so much because if you can't throw a pass, you're not going to run the ball - our QBs have had time but they're not ready for prime time. Beer and dogs are on me next time boys.
  2. Man, are we talking smack mouth trash talk today or what ? We all need to grab a football and go have a beer, game of flag football, another beer , and laugh our brains out. Then we'll have all the right solutions for Mac and the boys. Oh well, forget the footballs, some cold brews couldn't hurt though, beats a 2 - 6 record.
  3. Hey boys, being more of a football guy myself, what is the official commit date in college basketball. I know about February for Fball. North Texas Head Coaches Gene Robbins and mainly Bill Blakely were my basketball honchos in the day. Blakely and his teams were FUN ! Blakely would throw tirades and toss his suit coat onto the floor, got us fans/students all fired up and po'd at the refs and the other team. NT whipped SMU at Moody with Stan Blackman on the floor , big and bad under the basket. I was at that game, SMU fans hated being beat by NT then and still have "I can't believe it" problems now. Our NT fan contingent at the game in Dallas gave them hell. Hope it returns. GMG
  4. Good for Coach J.J. He was good for UNT ! Hope LSU wins. Go Mean Green !
  5. I want UNT to compete at the highest level. This is a new era in college athletics and just like everything else in this great country, things change. We adapt and usually come out stronger in the process. Stay Mean Green Always !
  6. This would be the year for Coach Benford to turn the corner, JJ got things going in year three so let's see what happens. GMG
  7. I'm thinking we have a new Offensive Coordinator next year unless Skladany retires, then Mac may not want to try and refill both Coordinator positions at the same time. Mac knows our offense has been running into a brick wall for quite some time now but RV wanted to hold on to Chico. I love Chico's attitude and commitment, but our offense from QB, most skill positions, and play calling have been sub-par. Mac knows that too. Defense needs a make over too, but Mac is all about Skladany - mutual loyalty. The Strength and Conditioning coach Wintrich (sp?) now there is a keeper, watch his career rise. LEE JACKSON needs to step in and make this program become as special and respected as the North Texas fan base / market deserve. MAN UP LEE, we are boosters and alums. Make it work, don't back off and hide.
  8. Maybe Mac ought to have Trice, Sarge and Orr come back and give a "bejesus speech to this group". Players might respond to other players.
  9. MEANGREENBOB: We disagree on the coaching quality but we don't disagree on the fact that there has been, so far, a collapse from 2013 to 2014. Why I don't know. Exactly what is your recommendation for a SOLUTION ? I'm an old Odus Mitchell watcher, lots of season tickets as well. My thought is to go and have a "sit down" with RV, et.al., and express my constant support while looking to insure that I see in front of me people who are VERY ON-BOARD AND COMMITTED to elevating the program. My little "tweets" are not going to get that done, so my contribution is to walk into the devil's den and have a "business" discussion. I still like Mac by the way and think he will win for us, my opinion. I think that's what most of us want.
  10. We WILL win again. Mac is a very good coach and seasoned at all levels of the game. He should be pissed off, he should be frustrated, if he weren't I would want a replacement. Mac knows what needs to be done and we as fans need to be 100% behind him. Losing a game or a battle should make us tougher and smarter, not turn us into cry babies UNT is on the rise, it will take some hits, but it will continue to rise.
  11. There was no offense and there was no defense. Both non existent. I would like to say one tried to carry the other, but they were both totally lame. We have run out of Todd Dodge recruits, Coach Mac made the most out of them - HOD Championship. But something is missing, UNT is getting demolished in their losses, not competitive at all. What is the missing piece? Mac is a great coach and we all know that. Skladany is a proven DC. So what isn't right with our process. In Mac's 4th year of recruiting the football program shouldn't be this broken.
  12. Yes, Dajon seems special and exciting to watch. If we can only give him some more tools to work with...
  13. GrayEagle: Is there a time that we look for "red flags" such as may have been there during the last two to three years of the Dickey era. Our program seemed to really breakdown back then, no red flags in recruiting?
  14. Seems like the really good programs find some consistency from year to year even when they are not fully stacked with experience. UNT needs to find that consistency, not necessarily win all of the time, but not go from a good year to getting blown out every time we lose. Losing by a TD or two is one thing, our losses are awful, non-competitive. There should be more of an expectation that UNT will compete in every game, win or lose.
  15. Bottom line, after today we know who we are and where we stand.
  16. Mac has made things happen in the past that woke people up. I believe he and Skladeny are up to it. The Big 10 hasn't dominated NT.
  17. Agree with post about the on-campus shirts, etc. I have seen much more green this year and far less "other school" laundry.
  18. Yeah, but we can do it. We have Indiana's number. Psych value.
