  1. This NCAA method of schedule ranking is interesting in looking at won/loss records but otherwise has no predictive value at all. Wait for Phil Steele's ranking at least.
  2. So, having read all of the above, it sounds like our (UNT's) best strategy pertaining to signing periods is to be patient, or impatient, and continue to support and push for the kind of quality growth we have seen under McCarney with bowl recognition and wins, i.e, "you grow it and they will come".
  3. Could you give a simple example of how this would benefit a prospective recruit and a university? Right now verbal commitments are "floating" until official signing in February for football. Between the Verbal Commit and the Official Signing there are "decommits" etc. Would that aspect change?
  4. Harry, or any of you detail guys. I am assuming that since ALL of the QB's in the above photo standing beside each other had knee braces on their left knees, (planting knees ?) that that is a preventative measure.
  5. Tell me guys, and I am a greenhorn at basketball, but weren't Johnny Jones' first two years here dismal? Didn't he get faced with job loss if he didn't turn it around in his third year? Which he did. I'm just saying...First two years under both coaches were crap. Don't get me wrong, I remember the "greatness days" of the past under Blakeley and our other NCAA trips, it's frustrating to say the least.
  6. I don't think that there is a problem with "#hit6" , but, innovation matters or people begin to take it for granted. You need "tradition" "PLUS".
  7. Glad Coach Mac is having fun ! Gotta be a way they can use it in the dressing room to fire up the team. I know I'd be in a hurry to get back on the field
  8. By golly it's a durn sight prettier than the old Mean Green Club Trailer at Fouts , yessiree bob, durn tootin' !
  9. At the first spring practice yesterday Coach McCarney came over, shook hands and was pumped. Ran after his players and coaches and got the practice fired up. Great to see the them all.
  10. " Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play....look at me " GMG !
  11. GMG_Ryan: Don't worry about the odd looks you get, we got a lot of odd looks this past year from football teams like Rice after the UNT Mean Green whipped 'em on the grid iron. Go Mean Green !
  12. meangreensports.com lists all of the practice times in the opening article. Today (Tue) starts at 3:30 PM.
  13. Thanks for the update Harry ! Good news for us in the MGN.
  14. Does anyone know where the HOD Bowl Trophy is on display at UNT. I've been trying to go by, see it, photograph it. It is not at the Athletic Building . We were at the game, need my fix.
  15. Was it Jamario who never fully recovered from the ACL injury and rehab.
  16. GrayEagle started a good QB hot topic thread here. Frankly, I think it's going to be a great battle with the strongest QB (but inexperienced) group we have had in many years. So for my worthless two cents I'm still going with: 1: Greer 2: Williams or maybe Little Mac 3: Grow the others for future trophies.
  17. I know, WILLIAMS is dynamite potential IF, IF he can stay healthy. But it seems like Coach Mac leans more to a pocket manager rather than a "run and gun" QB. Isn't that part of what hurt Berglund ? If it's more up to Chico, then I think Williams has more of a shot.
  18. Seems like Greer (from Navarro ? ) might have an advantage with more on the field success and action in college than any of the others. BUT, I am really looking forward to seeing the QB competition because I think the future long term (at least 3 to fours year tenure) is somewhere in the current mix. Coach Mac has an opportunity with a good offensive line returning, good receiving talent and real good running backs. So, again, seems like maturity and actual on field experience gives an early nod to Greer with this offensive set up.
  19. Welcome to the MEAN GREEN NATION Dylan ! Great Coach in Mac, Great School in UNT. Great Heart of Dallas Bowl win over UNLV.
  20. Oh man, here we go Again ! I'm still going through Mean Green Fan rehab after last season's blowout year. Great write up Harry and great hot sports opinions from the guys. Now where's my therapist !?!
  21. Good to know, thanks for the info.
  22. Does anyone know where the HOD Bowl trophy is displayed? Would like to go by and photo for my game room.

  23. Chris, TJ make the cut for UNT?
