  1. Spirit fades https://t.co/mTopO1UGsl via @dentonrc Ellen, from our small horse town, thought you would apprrciate this .

  2. Spirit fades https://t.co/L8DHXwcPAF via @dentonrc what an absolutely beautiful man and his friend, so much we could learn.

  3. No doubt Andy McNulty will start against smu. Question for this team is, does DaMarcus Smith have the guns to make a change soon afterwards? Too bad he couldn't have been in spring camp to compete, McNulty was and he worked hard, so give him his shot, I would love to see him kick ass. I believe this team will make some noise in a good way before the first half of the season is done.
  4. Not really back to square one after this coming season since D' Smith will have another year of eligibility and I think this kid is good, then Conner Means is in charge and I KNOW Means has really good stuff. I use to watch Cotton Davidson ( The Rifleman) , the first Dallas Texan (AFL) QB play with our own Abner Haynes (Little Abner) and the Cowboys first QB Eddie LaBarron, in the Cotton Bowl. Home of our HOD Championship in 2014. I know QB impact. This QB lineup has the potential quality for the next three years to be effective in conference competition. BUT it takes a whole team O's and D's to make it work. Mac needs solid performence from his OC and DC and ST, At this point I think we have a shot.
  5. Remember boys, Derek's junior season was poor BUT he grew up and was a leader his senior year. I remember in DTs junior year a lot of mistimed, quick throws that didn't show up in his senior year. Let's give Little Mac some support and encouragement. Maybe an HOD Bowl coming up, my early prediction.
  6. I didn't get a robocall from Coach Mac this year, guess I've been sidelined. I'll renew anyway.
  7. Don't know how I missed Bret Vito's earlier blog on D'Smith at QB. My bad. Vito is our Galloway voice, solid. Need a little sarcasmn and humor Bret. "Long time reader and listener " I didn't know Smith was on the ground,If Little Mac slows, bring in "D".
  8. So make the deal Rick, looks like a no brainer. But then I don't have to face the UNT fandom if she fails. All that said, she does look like a winner ( if she stays, etc, etc, etc, etc)
  9. Since Damarcus Smith is ineligible to practice in Spring Training, is he allowed on campus, the training field as a spectator? What is he doing now?
  10. Harry, as a solid Mean Green friend, how do we do a friendly approach to President Smatresk for an honest answer? I know he is in deep in managing UNT operations, but I and many friends and family love Mean Green football and basketball (please get here baseball). I can call him, but is that the best way to go/support? I'll just get a politically correct answer. Unless I offer more money beyond what I give now. None the less, I have found that individuals that make direct telephone calls to leadership in Austin DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Oh well, Go Mean Green.
  11. What is the spring trng schedule ? My son and I usually make a few sessions. Thanks guys.
  12. Fry left before he had to make any changes as I recall. But, when Hayden looked at you in the eyes, as he did me, and said "we are going to win"...we won ! I know, I know... But it happened. I have some Odus Mitchell and Rod Rust memories too, but that's just old timer history.I am all for Coach Mac, love that Irish fighting spirit, and would love to see Benford get a winning season but don't know.. Go Mean Green !!!!
  13. It all came from Hayden Fry who was head coach AND athletic director. Rick V., YOU have to make it happen. Please do it.
  14. In UNT Coach Bill Blakeley's days (70s) I remember when the Super Pit was FULL, not a third filled at best like today. I remember when we went to Dallas and beat smu and brought a full house of fans to the game ! smu was pissed. I remember Stan Blackman and Scooter , fantastic hard driven players. Why can't we get out of this slow moving ,mortifying, period. I know everyone is working hard, but history tells us that it CAN HAPPEN AT UNT. It isn't happening now. UNT has all the economic and infrastructure attributes to be able to dominate north Texas regional athletics. We get a RIGHT FORMULA for a couple of seasons and then plunge off the map for years. I have been to Austin , talked with the Governor on UNT and non UNT business, know our state reps, BUT ... I can't get it done by my self. Get busy guys! REALLY ! They listen to their constituency. SUPPORT UNT , pick up your phone or e mail , show some fan-constituent support !!! I'm getting old. HELP!!! Love my UNT.
  15. OK OK, I give in. Losing really sucks. Football and basketball and we don't have my beloved baseball yet. Would somebody please tell the BOR, President, and Administration that as one of many thousands of UNT grads we have checkbooks but need to see some commitment to WINNING ! Give us more than one winning season in years and years and years and we'll pay back.
  16. Benford will be given his last shot to get to "above average" next year , so dig your fire holes and wait. RV won't risk budget damage right now. MAIL CALL boys and girls, that's the way it is !
  17. "Bottom line: UNT really needs to win consistently to build a following." (B. Vito / 2-11-15) This is the most profound, never-ending program need UNT needs to accomplish. Over the years it's been hit and miss and drop out or off. The BOR needs to support RV and Coach Mac and build/demand winning consistency. JUST DO IT !!
  18. All of the above has really helped me understand the o-line possibilities, great discussion for UNT fans like me who want to be involved. Please discuss the d-line and of course the qb position.
  19. Holy crap ! Just when I got my hopes up again this bs about Damarcus Smith being a "no show" for spring practice blows up. Shouldn't someone have been monitoring Smith's transfer process. Sometimes we seem soooo inept !
  20. Just wondering who is responsible for the condition of South Bonnie Brae outside of Apogee? It's too narrow, totally degraded and the drainage ditch that runs along side of it is just begging to have a car wheel fall into it. Is it the city, the state or UNT? Don't get me wrong, if it has to come out of the athletic budget, then forget about it. I'd rather save the money for the baseball team. However every time we go to the games at Apogee or make trips to the athletic complex, I groan about that narrow, run down street.
  21. Come on boys...., looks goooood.
  22. Really hate the Sept 5th Bye week. I would rather have some momentum going into the smu game, especially with so much new talent coming in. Only five home games, not cool for building a fan base. I don't understand RV's thinking. Other than that, I think we'll have more success even with the tougher schedule.
  23. It's very frustrating to see our recruit pool get poached, Texas Tech seems to be pretty bad about doing that. But I'm not clear or sure that an early signing date would really change that. Schools in bigger conferences with more money are going to flip other school's recruits whenever they want to. Seeing a player flip at the last minute must drive a hard working recruiting staff crazy. Seems like an unethical fact of life no matter when the signing date is.
