Unt Needs To Bulk Up This Summer

Injuries, changes in career goals, academics, girlfriends, family problems, and a myriad of other reasons can change the desire and focus of an athlete. Sometimes there are more talented athletes signed that would push them further down the chart. There are no doubt occasions where they are asked to give up their scholarship to make way for the signing of new talent.

Whatever the reason there are always a few players that do not return in the fall. It happens in programs big and small. I would like for everyone to be able to finish their eligibility but it isn't always possible. All that we can do is thank them for their time and effort in trying to make this program a success. Godspeed to Troy, John and Austin. I wish you well for the remainder of your life.

Our LB's average 200 pounds? So for every 210 pounder we have a 190 pounder. Geez...someone must have neglected to inform Dodge that he was no longer at SLC.

well if the uniform change was any indication, they did their very best SLC impersonation from the very moment they hired him.

Linebackers are not a good example. *snip* To me, the average for all conference linebackers means little. The average for the best conference linebackers might be more telling.

Troy has 2 linebackers in the 240-250 lb range, backed up by 6 of at least 225 lbs.

By way of comparison, UNT has 2 240 lb linebackers, with 1 backup who is at least 225. The next biggest is 215 lbs.

Troy's linebackers average 223.4 lbs. UNT's--219.2. Not a big difference on paper until depth is factored in.

Over a 12 game season, this lack of overall size--depthwise--is what grinds down a football team, not only over the entire season, but during games. For that reason I disagree, and see linebackers as a perfect example.
