  1. Dumb question: can we still land Cain? If so, how? Dumb statement: D. Smith not getting to practice until the summer REALLY hurts. It's difficult (though not impossible) to envision him as the day 1 starter at QB.
  2. Lids stores usually have a hat. Rally House is your best bet. Online is where I usually do the most damage.
  3. When I think of Texas, I think of the Longhorn. Florida State? The rocked back, screaming Seminole head. USC? The Trojan on the side of the helmet. Clemson? Tiger paw print. Mich. State? The Spartan helmet. Ole Miss? The words "Ole Miss". Florida? The gator head emblem or the word "Gators" as seen on the side of their football helmets. I'm not against the interlocked "NT", I just hope you're not suggesting we make that our primary logo, replacing the diving eagle. I would be more on board with your idea if you put the interlocked "NT" in the current font that everything associated with UNT is written in.
  4. I guess if I were begrudgingly forced to embrace today's different-every-week college football uniform (vomit fart), the interlocked "NT" helmet wouldn't be all that bad for one of the alternate helmets. The diving eagle still needs to be the primary iconic emblem we're should focus on in our marketing efforts.
  5. I'm not sure what the point of this is. I can think of a lot of problems we should address that could help recruiting FAR more so than whether or not our bumper sticker logo actually says "North Texas". I don't necessarily have a problem with the interlocked "NT", but the diving eagle on the side of the helmet looks far better than the "NT" helmet shown here. I think the UNT font they've chosen to go with looks really good too. There's PLENTY of college football programs who have been successful with an iconic emblem rather than interlocked letters (Texas, Florida State, Clemson, USC, Michigan State), and even some with nicknames or mascot names written out (Ole Miss, Florida). Finally, the last thing we need to do is change up again. The vast majority of the most iconic, successful college athletic programs in the country are thought of as such not because of their branding, but because of the stability of their brand. BTW, it would be a sad, sad day if we ever let Nike do to us what they've done with Oregon. about 296 of their unbelievably ridiculous 300 possible uniform combinations looks like hammered diarrhea. I think of these new school, different-every-week, ZERO tradition college football uniforms as a stupid and unfunny joke that needs very badly to go away, but probably never will.
  6. That happens all the time in college sports. 247sports.com had Jerbrell Lipscomb listed at 5'8" 184, Lamar University (where he flipped his commitment to) lists him at 6'1" 190.
  7. I have class tomorrow at noon at UNT. That's the only 50 minutes out of the day that I won't be looking at the this website.
  8. Are you sure you're looking at the right year? I don't see any service academies on our schedule this year.
  9. There should be a rule against an unbalanced schedule. Every effing sports league in the free world has rules in place to guard against competitive advantages EXCEPT for the NCAA. They don't give a rat's furry ask about that. It really ruins college football for me. I'm glad we spent all that money building a beautiful new stadium just to play 5 games in it. Rick Villarreal couldn't be fired fast enough in my opinion. We need an AD that will protect our interests and work to build a stronger local fanbase. I'm going to mail him a box of spiders.
  10. There seems to be conflicting reports on the reasons why this kid has been listed as an athlete and not a QB. In any case, I think coach Mac would be certifiably insane to not at least take a look at him there. He was considered to be 5-star talent at that position at one time, and as far as we know, 0-star talent at any other position (especially one like DE, where he's played exactly 0 snaps). Those are the facts. I think rating him even at 2 stars at any position other than QB is comical. At any position other than QB, he might as well be a walk on. At any position other than QB, he's not only NOT the jewel of this class, he's not even worth mentioning at all. By the way, you're the only person anywhere that's even suggested he couldn't cut it at QB for poor throwing skills. At least anywhere that I've seen. I've only seen glowing reviews of his footwork and arm strength.
  11. Yes, to be clear, I read through most, not all. I'm sure the thought of redshirting him had occurred to someone, I just didn't see it. You seem pretty level-headed and knowledgeable, so it comes as no surprise that you've mentioned it in other places.
  12. A few observations: I'm decidedly less enthusiastic about Dillman if they intend to play him anywhere other than QB. I read through most of these posts, and I didn't see one person mention the idea of redshirting him as a QB and developing his fundamentals and his knowledge of the playbook, then let him compete next spring. But I did see a few people talk about how crowded the QB position is, as if the redshirt option is simply not in play in their minds. Also, to those who are pining away for more D-line help: quality D-line recruits are a problem for most mid-major programs. High schools just aren't developing them as much anymore, and the ones that are worth a poot usually go to power 5 schools. This is only going to get worse as FBS college football becomes more and more of a two-tier system. Incidentally, I think D-line is an absolutely awful idea for Dillman. Lastly, can we possibly get a fix on exactly how big Dillman really is? Everyone seems to agree on 6'4", but I've seen his weight range from 205 (on ESPN), to 220 (Dallas Morning News), to 230, 235, and as much as 243 (all on this blog). It seems like every post I see about him, he's put on somewhere between 5 and 15 lbs. I'm fully expecting in about a week for him to weigh 328 and be in the conversation for starting left guard.
  13. you make a strong argument here. why should anybody ever vent about anything on the internet for f*ck's sake? puff puff pass. then see your way into a different forum. where everyone is "chill".
  14. don't know why i got so many minuses in my original post. i don't think it's too much to ask for a little bone to be thrown at some point. again, it doesn't have to be with the initial release. but as long as they get colorado's grand entrance onto the field exactly right, then i guess i don't have anything to bitch about. screw me.
