Quincy Carter signs with arenafootball2 League team

Staff and wire reports

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Former Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter signed with the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings of the arenafootball2 League (af2) Thursday.

Carter, whose career has been sidetracked by drug allegations, played four seasons in the NFL, including three with the Cowboys. He started all 16 games in 2003 and led the Cowboys to the playoffs. In 2004, he started three games with the New York Jets. He signed with Montreal of the Canadian Football League last year, but was released one month later in training camp.

“It is perfect for my skills. I know quite a few players who have moved from the outdoor game to the AFL and af2, and even more that have moved from arena football to the outdoor game,” Carter said. “I see af2 as a place to begin the process of getting back to the National Football League."

The 2007 Wings’ training camp begins in mid-March. The season opener is April 7 at home against the expansion Fort Wayne Fusion.
