.....bad enough that FFR will post this on the football board about our lady's soccer team CRUSHING THE MUTS in the SBC semi's biggrin.giflaugh.gifbiggrin.gif

I swear if I had the weekend off I'd fuel up the F150, swing by Dallas and pick up E, Zeke, Silver, Harry and the rest of the usual castaway's enroute to Lala to go scream a lung out for the girls.

LAFAYETTE, La. (11/2/06) – With the season hanging in the balance, the North Texas (15-4-2) women’s soccer team scored three-second half goals to rally and beat Middle Tennessee 3-1 and advance to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship game for the seventh straight season.

Sophomore Brittany Cleveland was the hero on the night as she tallied two goals in the game and now has scored three of her five goals on the year in SBC tournament

Only the Denver Pioneers stand between the Mean Green and its third straight SBC title and NCAA Tournament appearance. The two teams will meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the championship.

The two fierce rivals played a physical match throughout as the Mean Green were able to avenge its only home loss of the season and knock off the Blue Raiders (17-4) for the first time since the 2003 season.

Middle Tennessee carried a 1-0 lead into the break after Kala Morgan scored with just one minute remaining in the first half.

The second half rally for the Mean Green began quickly as Cleveland tied the game at 1-1 in the 52nd minute of play. Just three minutes later freshman Kendall Juett continued her red-hot tournament with a goal that gave the Mean Green its first lead of the game at 2-1.

The game went back and forth for the final 30 minutes, but Cleveland put the game away with 33 seconds left with her second goal of the match.

Kandice Ellis made two saves on the night as the North Texas defense held the nation’s third-highest scoring offense in check, outshooting the Blue Raiders 16-13.

North Texas and Denver, the two stalwarts of the SBC, will meet for the title for the fourth time in league history and the first time since 2003.

The Pioneers won the only match-up between the two teams this season in the regular season finale 2-0 in Denver.

What if NT sports other than football dominate our conference, would that get us some consideration for CUSA?

GO NT SOCCER!!

Wasn't one of things we heard was we weren't competitive enough in enough sports other than football? Not having baseball probably hurt the most.
