I don't think we should just be throwing away winning the SBC title.  To call it a joke is disrespectful to every team in the conference.

Not to mention the fact that almost every other school would kill to have gone to even ONE New Orleans Bowl.

I agree with you. We should not disregard being SBC champs. My post was steering towards the notion of NT finding a way to win it. Sun Belt members should hope(and expect) the conference is good enough to NOT allow a bad NT team to take the crown for a 5th straight year.

It sounds like, what some of you are saying, winning OOC games is more important than winning the SBC!!??

You are not satisfied with Plan A: Losing OOC games and winning the SBC.

You will not be satisfied with Plan B: Winning OOC games and coming in 2nd, 3rd, 4th in the SBC!!

You still want DD to resign but have no legitimate alternative for a replacement.

Would you be satisfied with 1 OOC win?

Would you be satisfied with 2 OOC wins??

Would you be satisfied with 3 OOC wins???

How about an undefeated season??????

What would you be satisfied with????

Nobody has said anything specific except get rid of DD or RF.

Winning the SBC, no matter how we do in OOC play is important because:

1. Believe it or not it is a recruiting tool for better athletes into the "OVERALL" programs (FB, BB, Tennis, Golf, Soccer...etc men/women athletics!!!).

2. Believe it or not it is nice for UNT to pick up that New Orleans Bowl check every year.

3. Except for us, "hardly" nobody remembers what OOC games etc we won or lost the previous year or 2-3-4-5-6 years ago. All that recruits hear is that we have won consecutive SBC championships.

Got to agree that:

1. UNT is in the worst D-1 conference in the nation and that many D-1AA teams would like to schedule us for a win.

2. UNT is the cream of the SBC that all SBC teams would like to beat.

But, until UNT has an opportunity to move up to a better conference affiliation the goal of ALL UNT sports is to win championships.....

      Softball Picks up Transfer Pitcher from Tulsa

      If anyone watched that game against Tulsa......you were jealous. Because you wished that she was on our team. Now she is. What a pick up. Of all the pitchers I saw us go against this year.....she might have been the toughest. That I saw anyway. Great news...

      I'm taking a (big) "wait and see approach" to this hire. I remember the L. Jackson and Helwig (AD) eras. Both had Austin ties and tried to make us UT "light" or flat out hold us back.

      New President Named ...

      Gretchen Bataille was disastrous, and V. Lane Rawlins came to the rescue (having previously been president of Washington State and Memphis) and got us back on track, but he said from the beginning he would not stick around very long. Smatresk had been President of UNLV for 4 years and had previously served as an administrator at UTA. I thought from the beginning Smatresk was a steal. Smatresk proved himself to be effective and is stepping down at just the right time. I think we need the expertise that Keller brings to the position and I am optimistic that he will prove to be a great hire.

      Do facilities really matter anymore?

      They were once at the top of the list. You could also apply this to educational facilities, as being not as important. Cost of tuition and NIL payments is more important and is proven by the lack of funds raised for our new AD building. NIL contribution will become even more important once it is tax deductible.

      Do facilities really matter anymore?

      Facilities do matter. All the glitz of a payday will eventually wear off, as NIL donations will fade and most players won't get a huge payday. There are thousands of football players out there that mostly want opportunity to play at the college level. The higher the level the better, and we are a pretty high level on the food chain even though it doesn't feel like it. The great equalizer is still a scholarship and playing time. Each FBS still has a limit of 85 scholarships and only 22 starters. You won't get many wanting to go to Houston as a walk on, and pay their on way, to sit on a bench 3 years to maybe get a scholarship and play as a senior.
