good point, especially when there's nothing but AL baseball in these parts.

Well, I hope you guys have a nice crowd tonight. The SBC needs to take advantage of these opportunities when we get the chance. I was a little disappointed in our attendance last year when the Cajuns played you guys in Lafayette. Only consolation was that it was a 9:30 start on a friday night. I think we still managed over 18K. Hopefully you guys will too. I'll be watching the game tonight. Looking forward to a good match-up. ph34r.gif

I hope for a good crowd. The Astros don't play until tomorrow. If the Rangers made the playoffs ... if the Rangers made the playoffs, now that's funny!

We've been a ridin' in this Buick before. Losing kills your crowd. Our fan base is growing, and we'll see how diligent they are. Maybe DD likes to play in a nice quiet enviroment. Maybe we could have quiet day like back in junior high.

Attendance: 14,000 on a perfect night for the game. Don't want to think about the number if there is a little sprinkle. 5,000 of those won't make it into the stands until the end of the first quarter due to traffic.

Oh, by the way. The man who owns the company I work for has a saying which applies here. Whenever he asks me about when I will have finished a project or have a report for him, and if I reply something like "I hope it will be finished by Thursday", he says to me

HOPE IS FOR CHURCH !

Therefore, I say to all of you that are hoping to win tonight, "hope is for church". Say "We are going to do whatever it takes to insure victory tonight!".

      The bats have definitely been the biggest disappointment the past two years. The run support simply hasn't been there enough. Now, I'm still optimistic for the tournament. Last year we won three straight to make it to the title game. But that double bye would have been nice especially if we only have two reliable pitchers right now.

      Why the NCAA model is dying and will be replaced

      You can rebuild a college basketball rotation to contend at a high level in one year. That is just 8-9 players. And if you get lucky with 2-3 absolute monsters, you can make a run in any given season. Of course, then those 2-3 monsters will get poached by deeper pockets and you will have to start all over again. But still, it is possible. But we can’t rebuild a college football two-deep in one year. That’s almost 50 players that we need to compete at a high level. And as has been demonstrated, any time we get football players who have any kind of success in the NIL era, they are gone quicker than you can say “Chandler Rogers”. Another reason it is easier for us to compete in the NIL era in basketball is because that sport is dominated by guards. There are LOTS of talented guards available in college basketball and some of the very best can fall through the cracks and land with us for atleast a season. And while many people would say that college football is dominated by quarterbacks (and that position is VERY important)… what really separates the elite college football programs from everyone else are the defensive linemen. The supply of 18-24 year-old humans who weigh 300 pounds with the strength to take on multiple blockers while also having the speed to run down a quarterback is no where near the demand. And these defensive linemen usually take a while to develop. But anytime a defensive linemen shows a hint of promise, he gets funneled to the highest bidder and that won’t be us. Which means we will never be able to compete with the SEC or Big 10 in football.
