Rangers have 5 All-Stars

Recommended Posts

Alfonso Soriano will start at second base, Hank Blalock will go at third base, and Mike Young at shortstop.

Kenny Rogers and Francisco Cordero will be on the All-Star pitching staff.

I think it's awesome this team that everyone has been so down on the last few years has 5 all-stars, and who would have guessed 2 pitchers? It's already been a great year, no matter what else happens. Other than Rogers, these guys are young and will contribute for a while.

Hank didn't do so hot in the home run derby, but Soriano hit a three run homer off Clemens and won the MVP of the all-star game. This is turning out to be a pretty darn good year for the Rangers.

I loved the first inning of the all-star game. It was in Houston, Roger's hometown, playing for the Astros, starting the game, I was waiting for them to go ahead and give him the MVP trophy before the first pitch as everyone gushed about his greatness. One IP, 6 runs. And the inning was kept alive by fellow Astro Jeff Kent who butchered a routine grounder. Not to mention Jimy Williams was booed in the lineups, and fired the next day. It truly was a showcase all-star break for the Astros as they sit in last place.

At least Lance Berkman represented well in the derby.

Make that second to last place, at least they are beating the Pirates at this time sad.gif I was glad to hear that Jimy Williams got fired, but I wonder if hiring a guy who has never had a winning record will help out any. Hopefully it will be a wake-up call for this team, if not the Astros are going to be out of it by the trading deadline and dumping Beltran in the process.
