  1. Above is some of the best advice I have ever seen on this board. I have written the President regarding our lack of competiveness in CUSA. He gave me a fairly prompt response saying that he too liked winning teams and coaches. I made the point that our student fee is half or less of that charged by our in state CUSA competition, which I feel has a great deal to do with our inability to compete.
  2. You may be thinking about Allen Ward to Murray State
  3. I think people are far under rating the effect of the new SMU coach and the advantage SMU has of having a game with BU under its belt. We have never won a game at SMU's on campus stadium in the modern age. Why should this season be any different? Especially since Mac considers this a non-rivalry game. SMU is stiill being considered as an expansion target of the Big 12-2 according to this morning's DAMN.
  4. I remember SMU game tickets being listed in the season ticket package. I can't recall if the tailgate was mentioned as well. Does anyone recall this? I would have paid for both at the time if it was listed like that.
  5. 1-11 and we have a new head coach and staff next year
  6. C.C. "Jitter" Nolan was President and John Hargrove was the Treasurer for NTSU at the time, both understood the role of athletics and made sure Hayden had what he needed, Blakeley as well! Rex Cauble's $30K per year also helped at a time when expenses were not as high and competition as steep. A higher student fee just equivalent to our peers would put us on much more solid ground. Seems we are content to be the cheapest rather than pursuing being the best we can be!
  7. Would love to believe we could be competitive against SMU, LA Tech, Southern Miss, and MTSU on the road. Will reserve judgement on last three until after we go to SMU. Just need to believe we can compete, but the last three are fun trips that I have made in the past.
  8. DeMarcus Smith needs to emerge from fall camp as the starting QB!
  9. Agnes was on the BOD of Alumni Association ( then the North Texas Exes) . She was a very active board member during my Presidency, and always acknowledged our service together to Joe. Have known her since Joe and I were classmates picking up our respective future wives at Clark Hall. A great North Texan, wife to the greatest North Texas player of all time and mother to two former players. Can't think of anyone that can top that. RIP Agnes UNT will miss you.
  10. I agree with Huff and Kram. It is a great trip to West Point and playing the hated 'Stangs every year may finally convince Coach Mac that it is indeed a rivalry!
  11. Longhorns all the way. Put two sons through there. Greatest moment I have known in sports was being at the Rose Bowl for the National Championship Game with both of them. USC was stunned that the stadium was 50/50. They came in their Bentlys and UT was in pickups?
  12. Wonderful news now makes it a two horse race for QB with Butler JC a winner at the wire in fall camp.
  13. They sure royally kicked our butts
  14. Great football humor Mark-----May need that humor to survive this season with Mini MAC @ QB!
  15. This will not happen. I made SMU shirts for game under Dickey, and Mr. B came by to tell met that I could not sell them at cost. Told him I would give them away to students which I did at a cost to me of nearly $400. Don't expect any favors from Batchholder. He has never spoken to me since and can't even look at me.
  16. Tenn. and IA games are strictly " body bag " money makers! Will never again attend one of these. We can' t do a 1-1 because we can't make the guarantee with the little"d" deadbeats. Schedule a game like this for the third week of the State Fair in the Cotton a Bowl and you will get a 1 for 1 otherwise Houston, Okie State, or TT are only wishful thinking with 4K season ticket holders you can not take the chance on bringing anything but a MAC or MWC to Apogee!
  17. Your closet SMU attitude is again showing-- no way University of Alabama should control UAB. It is like UT-Austin controlling UTEP!
  18. Giving % for public research universities from alumni average close to 9%. The number of 7% seems high for UNT.at the end of 2013 UNT Advancement was showing 2.7% of alumni gave back. The 7% could include estates! trusts! private foundation! and most importantly corporate gifts. Deferred giving plans through charitable gift trusts, life insurance, gift annuities, and employer matches also could be included. As Treasuer of the foundation I can tell you that gifts in all areas are down from 2014 because of the accounting practices problem. I am told by the Chancellor that this has been resolved for MUCH less than reported and is paid in full. So that should no longer be an excuse. PM me if you have specific questions, and I'll attempt to answer unless it is something not yet released for the public. I can tell you there is a good possibility of a Major gift to baseball. The thing we currently need most is an increase in the student athletic fee to match TSU@San Marcos and UTSA. With theirs being double what our fee is and others in CUSA sometimes being triple what ours is we simply can't compete effectively. If a student can' afford an additional $150 per semester IMHO they don't belong in college. The UNT legal staff screwed up the wording for the original bill or it would have been the same as UTSA & TSU-SM. Contact your state representatives and senators as an amendment to the fee bill in now with another omnibus bill in committee in state legislature . In Denton call office of Myra Crownover and Mike Burroughs. In Lewisville contact Jane Nelson.
  19. Go to www.unt.edu and click on alumni and you will get to a site to establish a log in, find coming events, join the alumni association , and connect with other alums.
  20. In Idaho now Boise State and Denton = polar opposites. Albertson's sponsors their stadium. The whole town of nearly a quarter million is draped in orange and blue. Denton is the joke of college football. Artsy fartsy and totally backward from the metroplex. I want to see stats on alumni side attendance. I bet out of Denton is at least double the number from Denton. UNT-Dallas is grossly outdrawing UNT at the latest events I have attended. Jordan Case does a terrific job so I will attend Plano and also Denton , which is just for a laugh!
  21. MAC "fire and brimstone" = pure BS. People have a day job and it is Not doing the A. D. staff's work. Entirely turns me off and the reason I took SMU in the opener and gave 7 for $100. Players don't believe this B.S. anymore either!!

  23. According to MAC at spring signing gathering IT IS OUR JOB TO SELL SEASON TICKETS AND MGC MEMBERSHIPS. And he had lots of curse word adjectives and hollering to let that be known.
