We all have the same idea (moving up), but thinking independent is going to move us faster than the Belt is not realistic at all. It is very likely we would be so suffocated by the financial struggles that entail it, we would not be able to recover at all, let alone put ourselves in a position to move up.

I don't mean to alarm anyone but if we beat LaLa, we (cue Darth Sidious voice) control our destiny to win the Belt and/or go bowling. Say what you want about whether we deserve it or could pull it off, but that would be something to celebrate. Here's hoping for a win this week.

Were you here during the pre-Dodge era? I think RV should hand-write a letter, scan to the UNT community and include an invitation to gather on The Hill while he throws green Jolly Ranchers at the crowd. What they're doing should be expected, but I am not so sure anything more would make that much difference. We really need to get some winning ways under our belt.

I wouldn't expect consistency out of an OL with multiple freshman in the rotation. It's just the nature of the beast. Be positive about it: they exploded on IU, and have been admirable in pass protection. I think these are things to look forward to as they mature and round this beast out. It is frustrating right now, but I just can't bring myself to be worried about this.

I thought the MWC was formed because those schools were sick of Benson. UTEP was left out of the fold because of an apparent lack of commitment to athletics, specifically football. I can't guess what will happen, but I do think UTEP would be viewed by them in a different light now. Quite frankly, I think many of those schools would welcome a chance to have yearly bball battles (again) with the Miners, who - ironically - recently hired Tim Floyd...same guy who recruited all those players that gave them fits in the 80s with their level of play and hostile home crowds. Can you elaborate on said memories that would work against a reunion?

I am totally guessing here, but the individual conference needs might be different this time around. The past phase of realignment is about as good a barometer for discussion as we have, but we really can't say things for sure.
