  1. I agree on later kicks being better. But if you think a 6 or 6:30 kick would have had a SMU/La Tech kind of crowd I have ocean front property in Celina to sell you.
  2. I agree. But in reality, I don't care if they wear uniforms I like or not. I don't really care what color is. I hope they wear uniforms that resonate with current players and recruits. I suspect our combinations do. That's obviously the target audience since they unveil them using a "Fortnite" theme. Bottom line, I like winning more than anything else. I hope they do whatever they need to do to win.
  3. I agree. But I think UAB and Southern Miss will be equally difficult for us.
  4. Agree it's classy of Wren to mention. And RV to donate. Nonetheless, RV had 15 years to get a statue up so I'm not prepared to give him a medal of honor for having the idea. I will say I think people overlook Rick getting the stadium done which was no small feat.
  5. Agreed. On a neutral field, LaTech beats Arkansas by 10-14.
  6. Pretty much dead on. The one blunder I can't get past is Darden trying to field the punt inside the 10.
  7. Agree. Putting him back there and not directing him to let the punt go was the biggest error of this game IMO.
  8. To this point, I hate being stuck waiting. So I usually watch the presser on the video board before leaving. However, 30-45 minutes is probably below the average for most venues. I've spent over an hour trying to get out of the parking lot at ATT stadium after a Cowboys game several times.
  9. The funny thing is there are literally some people on here that would propose it and be mad it didn't get done! LOL
  10. I love Quinn. I think he's an awesome kid. His combined two year QB rating is is 114. This year it is 79. Mason has a career rating of 138 including 149 the last two years and 154 this year. Obviously our coaches who watch practice every day and coach the kids every day felt like Mason gave us the best chance to win even if he was limping.
  11. I think you are misunderstanding me. Playing for the West was the focus. My comment was Mason by far gave us the best chance to win the game. It was a critically important game for a lot of reasons. So that's why you play him if he can physically go.
  12. As a fan, sure I'd like to know. But I'd say two things. 1) Fans don't have a "right" to know. Student-athlete and their grades and health are protected by FERPA and HIPPA. So the safe play by is say less. What if an athlete later claimed their chances at playing pro were hurt because too much injury information was disclosed. 2) I'd rather my coach be focused on winning that making sure I know exactly every detail of injuries. In all 3 of these injury cases, UTEP's gameplan will adjust. No mason fine, they'll stack the box. None of our other QBs would throw as much as Mason. No Hall, that's where we'll throw the ball when we throw, etc. UTEP not knowing makes it harder to gameplan. And what should be most important to Coach and fans is winning.
  13. I seriously don’t believe that. We’ve had 1 crowd of 30k plus in over 100 years. Our Incarnate Word crowd was less than 20k after drilling smu. Being undefeated would have improved the crowd (maybe from 22k to 26k or 28k). I’ve been watching North Texas football for almost 4 decades. Lots of ups and downs but we wouldn’t have had 30k plus again this year. I want to believe we would’ve but I don’t.
  14. This is correct. A hobbled Fine is our best option. Has anyone watched the series Quinn’s played this year. Forget about the one drive against Iowa when they hadn’t prepared for him last year. Quinn has struggled this year. We were playing for an undefeated season and outside chance at New Years 6 bowl. If your star QB says he can and wants to go, you let him go. On the last two drives he still threw several lasers including one of his back foot across the field to Guyton on a 3rd and 15. He converted again he on a 3rd and 13 to Guyton.
  15. While I agree that we tend to forget the run and I also agree we went away from in this game but I had no issue with the play calling on the last drive. Time was a factor. The attempted pass to Bussey occurred with right at a minute. Simply put, two minute drill with time winding you can’t run it every play.
  16. They did theirs over a year ago. It was on twitter. So they were well before the men.
  17. The level of detail all the way down to the black shoes and white laces. Even the helmet logo has the breaks in the letters. If all of our guys come out like wearing that, I may explode with excitement. Wow, will Saturday be a trip back in time. Joe was about a decade before my first UNT games to watch. But I can only imagine the chills for those that are there tomorrow and saw Joe play at UNT.
  18. Kinda my thoughts. I think it only makes sense because of the statue unveiling. It's an extra tribute provided Joe was good with it. Not sure I'd like an annual tradition. Although I'd get to like anything Joe wanted. LOL.
  19. This is off the charts. The level of detail from design of the uniforms to the reveal. Bravo!
  20. I can see both sides. If it was MWC vs CUSA for a forever choice, I'd go CUSA. But I'd go MWC if I had the choice because it puts us in a better position for other future alignment changes in conferences because MWC is perceived better.
  21. About the only thing Wren and Neal can do is get us in another conference. Our conference games get the same treatment as other CUSA teams which is better the Sunbelt. The reason you see some other teams on this time of year is because they are primarily road games against power 5 teams so to it's on the power 5 conference's tv package as home team's conference always owns tv rights.
  22. I agree with those that think this rampant speculation is fruitless and probably not good for recruiting. That being said, here's the facts in my opinion. 1) SL is going to be considered a hot candidate. 2) He isn't by himself on that list. Just to name a couple I think may be hotter names a) Neal Brown - beat LSU last year and beat Nebraska this year. Beat the hell out of us. b) Mike Norvell - has killed at Memphis for three years. Almost beat UCF last year. c) Brian Harsin - won big at Ark State. Winning big at Boise. 3) The Ark win is huge but IMO SL will need to finish this year strong to be in the top 3 or 4 G5 coaches. If we lose to FAU for a 3rd time in two years for instance, that will hurt Seth's stock. 4) There are also power 5 coaches who are on the lower end of P5 that are "available." Think Dino Babers at Syracuse. Tech probably pays more and Dino was at Baylor and knows this area. In other words, the candidate list is longer than most of think about for any job that opens. 5) Our President and AD are have shown themselves to be aggressive. We hired SL at near the top of the conference in pay. I think I remember it being 2nd or 3rd. We gave him a raise after his 1st year that tied FAU, FIU and UTSA at the top of the league. After last year he got a monster increase that pays him $400,000 more than anyone else in CUSA. I have to believe Neal and Wren will make another agressive offer to keep Seth. 6)Mason Fine is back!!!! And so is one of the best receiving corps in the country along with a ton of other juniors. 7) We have a tremendous recruiting class committed. 😎 Seth's buyout aint cheap. He'll cost someone almost $2 million. Plus they'll have to pay his taxes on that $2 million so it will be closer to $3 million. This will be particularly important when weighing him against other candidates. Someone will need to like Seth Littrell $1.5 million dollars better than a Neal Brown who's buyout is reported at $500,000. Let's say we are able to pay Seth $2 million. That's going to eliminate a bunch of competitors. For instance, Maryland, UNC, NC State, Kansas, Cal, Rutgers and Indiana all pay less than $2.5 million. I don't see SL leaving a place he routinely describes as "home" for a negligible raise. Anyone that comes after him better be prepared to offer north of $3 million. Probably well north. Could we lose Seth? Yeah, we could. But I still say the smart money is he isn't quite on the elite school's list yet. Come back another year with Mason Fine and crush it again and his stock is even better. This is why I've never worried about Kansas. Only a damn fool takes that job when they are holding the hand Seth holds. Tech is worrisome. Only because they may pay stupid money. But one thing I think could help is they can't interview Seth without knowing 100% he'll take the job. If word leaks that the UNT coach turned them down, Lubbock will burn. I'm not sure Seth would take the job without listening to them, evaluating and giving UNT a chance to counter. That may mess the deal up.
  23. Who's going to tell them we pay our coach double what they pay theirs?
  24. Terry still does Fox NFL Sunday I think. My guess is he would already be in LA prepping to film the show.
