  1. I get your point but I disagree. I think the base of the hill would be the best location on gameday. But the other 359 days of the year, that area gets zero traffic and it's not convenient for people to "stop by." The gate #2 location has plenty of parking and is visible from the interstate. I would think the statue will attract visitors throughout the year at gate #2. Anyone visiting the MGSF office, spirit store, etc.
  2. THIS!! For sure. I would love for the band to go. I'm sure we all would. But the same people going nuts about this will be the ones griping when their tickets go up to cover this expense or when we can't match an offer Littrell gets. Power 5 schools don't give you free band tickets. The cheapest Arkansas ticket (lower level because you can't put a band in the upper deck) was $60 when I bought mine yesterday. Upper deck is $45. You'd need tickets for 400 band members plus instruments (probably another 25-30 tickets). Tickets alone would be nearly $30,000. They need buses. Probably 8-10 buses which probably rent for $2,000 per day each. There's another $20k. Bus drivers can only drive so many hours per day so you'll need two drivers for every bus. Then you need to feed the band. They'll be on the road for 16 total hours so that's at least 3 meals plus probably a snack. Another $16k or so (400 meals X 4 X $10). So that's almost $70,000. Who's in to donate? Because the truth of the matter is we don't get the $45 million that SEC schools get from TV so we can't do everything they do. It's a financial reality unless a donor wants to write the check.
  3. There was a social media post saying they had sold out of them.
  4. I'm a huge fan of Coach Littrell and WB but I believe the most importance ingredient to our newfound success is buy in from the University. If we continue to invest the way were currently are, I'm convinced we can overcome personnel changes.
  5. From Peggs, OK. Played at Locust Grove High School
  6. Just sitting here thinking about this weekend. Massive crowd. Team that plays at a high level with few self-inflicted mistakes. One of the best QBs in the CFB. A marketing promotion making national news. We've waited so long to see this and it gives me chills. The stars are aligned. Great coach, great AD, great President. Supportive chancellor and Board (led by an unsung hero for athletics in Brint Ryan). This is what "it" feels like and it feels so damn good. Here's hoping that we keep the team intact and that if/when we do lose any of them, the culture and resources are there to continue our trajectory. It feels different this time, like we may really have changed the future of our athletic program.
  7. My point exactly. I have no idea how many were there. But I have zero doubt it's the most that's ever been in Apogee. I'm not going to debate the "analytics for a living guy" on how many seats were open per 25. But if someone says there were more at the Houston game, they're delusional. Anyone at both of those games that was taking pictures would see the difference.
  8. No way. I don't know how many were there last night but I was at both games and have pictures from both and there were more there last night. The wing was substantially more filled in this time. And we had people standing everywhere. The wing looks cool doesn't work in practicality. People refuse to go up there high and sit. I walked up there one time. I can't say I blame them. It's a long straight up walk that isn't worth doing if you plan to ever go for concessions or the restroom.
  9. Not to state the obvious but one of those groups are well trained and conditioned athletes. The others, not so much. I don't have a huge issue with the shorts. Don't want anyone passing out and interrupting the game, LOL.
  10. Agree 1000% I'm very happy for the track and soccer kids. But even at $14 million, I swallow hard. If they were split facilities, it would be at least $20. Probably more like $22 million.
  11. Also, I just realized in addition to uniform watch and debate we now have ticket map watch and debate. What a world.
  12. I've been told typical walk up is between 1,500-3,000. I think this will be on the high side. So let's say 3,000-3,500. I've heard there's 8,000 tickets in the student sections. What if 10,000 show? Maybe they'd put them in some of those seats? Where are the free student guest tickets going? Students and upper endzone (as well as lower endzone behind the goalpost) is all GA. I'm starting to wonder if they might not have oversold the cheapest tickets (GA). If you have 3,500 walk ups and they actually have to buy seats, it would be close. I guestimate somewhere between 3,000 and 3,500 actual seats remain. Who knows where they are on GA. I've checked the maps throughout the day. While many seats remain, several sections have large chunks gone from them compared to this morning.
  13. I looked this morning and thought the same thing. But I'm guessing 2-3k for a walk-up crowd. Reality is the walkup push at the end will be the deciding factor.
  14. Does it tell number of games so you can figure an average? That would be a good data point
  15. Yeah but they also were making jokes of the #metoo movement which isn't a far left wing position.
  16. I was told they would give reminders the first two games but wouldn't turn anyone away. That was from a member of the MGSF staff at the ticket pick up event. He also said we were pretty much the last venue (college or pro) in Texas to put the policy in. Personally, I don't love they have to do this. But they do have a responsibility to ensure everyone's safety. Many stadiums and venues have metal detectors so this seems less intrusive than that.
  17. Huh? Outside of the Texas outline not being quite dark enough, I think it looks great. Even seems like the end zones are pretty popular now.
  18. I'm not about to email our leadership about this. I feel there are so many other things they should be focused on. The fans have more to do with the pregame atmosphere than the Green Brigade or ath department. I'd rather have them focused on keeping SL and staff intact, building financial support, improving facilities. Winning is the biggest thing our programs need and is the PRIMARY reason we don't have more fans and a better atmosphere. Lastly, I think the Green Brigade suggestions should go straight to the band director or dean. I doubt anyone from athletics has much input into the actual routine. They simply provide the time and WB would be nuts try and cut that time. That would go over like a s*&$ sandwich. I think Virginia Tech has the best entrance in all of college football followed by Clemson. But those two places have consistent sellouts and as passionate of fans as anyone int he country.
  19. Originally, it was only going to be track so they could get track out of Fouts. So if anything, they would have just left soccer where they are.
  20. I'm sure everyone would have preferred separate but right now at UNT I can't see spending the money to do both as separate facilities. My opinion is this was the right decision here. And the Longhorns have the same things so from a recruiting perspective, I don't think recruits will see it that negatively.
  21. You might save on fees, I'm not totally sure. But tickets are more expensive on game day. I think the $20 ticket is $25 day of game. They do that to try and get people to buy in advance and not create super long lines day of game.
  22. I agree on GH. I love him but if we are willing to pay $1 million plus we can probably get a proven head coach.
  23. This. When people say Seth is frontrunner I'm like have you heard of Neal Brown. Listen, I love what SL has done. But we've been awful on D during his tenure. Neal Brown has been a HC longer, won more games, has been good on O and D. Beat LSU in Death Valley and beat the shit out of us last year. Why would SL be ahead of him? I get he has Filani and Graham on his staff but there's not guarantee they go (we could hire them here as HC and OC for instance) and if they did go, they may leave after a year or two. Plus Seth makes $1.4 now and Neal makes $800k so I assume Neal comes cheaper. Makes no sense to me. But then again, no ones asking me either.
  24. Was at Apogee today to pay for tickets and saw the endzones. The pics we've seen didn't have infill because they were just starting to put it in so that will dull it sum as will wear and tear over time. The rest of the field has already lost some of it's "crispness." When I read/saw pics of the design of I loved the idea of kelly green endzones. But I admit the contrast today was stronger than I thought and will take some getting used to. That being said I still think it was the right call. If our name wasn't Mean Green and we just had green as a primary color, I'd feel different. But when your name is "Mean Green" I feel like you got to own it and brand the hell out of it. Neon lights, obnoxious endzones, lighting towers, etc. Just one man's opinion.
  25. Not the way I understand Vito's article. At the end of the 18 season the previous contract had the buyout at $700,000. The new one at over $1.6 million. I'd love it to be higher but I'm sure Seth's agents weren't going to let it be too high. If Vito is correct and it would be top 10 all time to be paid, that seems fair(ish) relative to the salary.
