  1. He is less nimble than I imagined... It puts into perspective how freakish those ANWs are in real life.
  2. I don't know how this can be advertised as not costing UNT money. The contract clearly states UNT is paying his travel, accommodations, and $100k https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/donald-trump-jr-is-getting-100000-for-university-speech-sponsored-by-gop-donors-company/2017/09/01/d2f0493a-8f22-11e7-8df5-c2e5cf46c1e2_story.html?utm_term=.b132f3aa3951 http://ntdaily.com/donald-trump-jr-to-be-paid-100000-for-unt-kuehne-series-speech/
  3. Structures that were put up during the Jim Crow era and Civil Rights era to honor the Confederacy and to try to hold back the tides of equality -- yes, those monuments can be taken down. These are not giant government structures to celebrate the United States history. There is a well documented reason for the surge in cheap mass produced Confederate monuments during those eras. Getting rid of those monuments does not erase history -- but it can go in a museum where all other history is stored/shared/learned. This is not rocket surgery. There is no slippery slope. If the monuments went up in a movement of popular opinion, they can come down by the same reasoning. If the popular opinion of a community no longer wants to glorify a loss of a war, they can do that. If you, personally, want to have your shrine to 'southern heritage' in your living room -- by all means -- do it.
  4. My brain read Kelvin Martin and it gave me puppy head.
  5. It doesn't mean you are a terrible fan to admit this is a turd in the bowl of games. This is a lose lose. 1. We already fight the stigma of 'not deserving a bowl' -- 'too many bowls' 2. If we beat Army -- great, you already beat them. Awesome job. 3. If we lose -- we lose on 'home turf' in front of 30k fans to a team we have already beaten. Personally, (0% sarcasm)I realllllllly like traveling to BFE for games against teams we may never play again (GSU, Idaho). I am in the minority here, but I like it. It gives me a reason to travel and see our country and meet our people. HoD shafts what I like about these barely televised bowl games. Alas, I will stay in the Omni, fine dine the night before with my wife and friends, brunch the morning of and enjoy freezing my ass off during the game -- but that doesn't mean that most of me wishes I were in NM, Jamaica, Idaho, AZ or LV. Also, to you Polly Anna's, bringing 30k to your HOME metro doesn't tell other bowls you travel well. It means you show up a bit more than you home attendance in the same metroplex. Add that to #4 lose lose. If we managed to sell out 100k stadium, sure. That isn't happening with how this team finished out the year. As always. GMG.
  6. I went ahead and removed it from Wikipedia.
  7. There is a Jerry McFadden on Facebook that says he went to UNT 88-92 and coached at UNT from 12-15.
  8. Lance is sitting out this week too. Then Cowboys have a bye week.. They hope to get him back the following week.
  9. I noticed that most of the big money donors were absent last night.
  10. I am trying to figure out my disenfranchised level. Do I even care enough to care anymore? We'll see.
  11. I still go to every home game and go to some away games. I hadn't viewed GMG in many many years. I would pull up Vito's blogs to try and keep up with the team. Yet my eyes would roll so far back on the "McNulty bandwagon" type articles that it was getting harder to keep reading that. I came back here to view the carnage from the latest Benny Hill AD situation. I know the last two times we went through this situation the masses were still on board with RV. Seems like the tides have turned -- the talk of the "17" is all new to me. The new hires are lame. The old guard is still as incompetent and ivory towered as ever. I am happy to see this thread though! Like a blast from past.. Nothing has changed and that is depressing.
  12. With just over half of the seats being sold (right now), this shouldn't be an issue. It isn't about 'fair', it is about honoring their word and sales pitch. However, I wouldn't see it as unfair that someone who has donated more money than you (based on "priority points") and recruited a good number of new families willing to put up atleast 13k to come sit in a new stadium, as having an advantage as to where that group sits. That sounds fair to me. That person may have just brought 100k to the games for that year -- largely based on the ability to sit as a family/reunion/gaggle. I don't apologize for that not sitting right with you. Your sales person didn't give you that pitch. Mine did. I admit, I had a grumpy day with a sick baby in the house and this rubbed me entirely wrong. This is just another miscommunication from the AD on a litany of topics over the years. I am somewhat optimistic they will keep their word, but it should not take haggling or convincing to keep donors coming back. It shouldn't be my burden to get them to honor their word. If the head honchos tell you something to your face multiple times an in writing -- you shouldn't be surprised by an email or gmg post saying it is going some other way. Just the way it is.
  13. Our awesome AD again. During the selling of the club level seats, we asked numerous times how the seating would be done. I have been a MGC member for a long time and have plenty of points to go around, but I wanted to bring on some new people who want to sit with us. They said it isn't a problem, just pick a "key" person and they will situate people around that "key" if you have multple families that want to bundle together. Now that the AD has my family and friend's money, they change direction and seating is solely based on seniority and the new people either have to sit by themselves (money is spent), force me to pick in a lower teired day and maybe not even be able to select to get my three seperate new families to sit together, or ... just accept that the AD's word is about worthless and stop donating in the future.
  14. Bama got beat by the mighty UL-Monroe -- our conference foe. Unless your friends can move their entire team, stadium and atmosphere to Denton, they can put ULM in their pipe and smoke it. Personally, I think you cheer for your school first, then locale second. You are Mean Green by choice and Crimson by birth, no changing that.
  15. That move may save them money this year, and the other workers will pick up the slack for the short term. In the end though, workers get tired of over working and they leave. Then you have high turnover in a position, because everyone will eventually feel that way. American workers are the peak of effeciency and work more hours (per week) than anyone in the world. We also have less vacation than any industrialized nation. So your claim that just joining entities together, having one of the staff cover both of them and lay off the rest -- is -- well -- silly. It is how my company handled the last downturn and it worked out well for one year. Then we lost 20% of our staff when they went and got more satisfying jobs elsewhere. Then we hired a slew of temp-quality workers (because, after all management always minimizes the skills required for a job) and our quality is atrocious now. I mean HORRIBLE. Our schedules have slipped and now the company is talking about losing money on the missed schedules and cost of supporting low quality. Just because it takes 9 months to have a baby, doesn't mean you can have 9 people on it and get a baby in 1 month. Management and administrators get lost in the numbers and forget the rest. It is amazing.
  16. He is a "co" offense coordinator? DD is efficiently working his way down the pay scale. His next stop is a RB coach. Then GA.
  17. What is it with our AD and their inability to stick to scheduled times? Thanks for the info though.
  18. Our President wanted MCCarney. Our AD wanted Canales. Let's be sure to give the proper (errr) props.
