  1. How does the man who does the hiring and firing get so immune from the consequences of his decisions? His roaming the sidelines recently, posing in front of the cameras with his heading shaking and angry posturing, strikes me of a person who is looking for a scapegoat and will be making some moves soon.
  2. I completely agree. 90% of the people here and here regardless of win/loss. Hell, I suprised by how many people actually went to the Tech game (that weren't parents). MeanGreenPOP, you can't be serious. At all other schools you would be seeing much more bashing and less optimism after being blown out in all our OOC games for the past 8 years. I don't see much PLAYER bashing. It is staying where it belongs -- at the coach level. I think the most people would agree that Meager isn't really to blame, the play calls just suck. It is a pass behind the line of scrimmage or a jump ball down the sidelines. What QB ever learned to play only getting to attempt those types of passes?
  3. That topic got locked for a reason .. Leave this thank as just that... a thank you. Nothing more needs to be said.
  4. If you people want to read what EVERYONE has to say on this topic, use the search function. It has been beatin down... big time.
  5. He wasn't a great blocker because he wasn't a FB his whole career. He was a HB playing the FB position. He was appreciated at UNT, especially last NMSU game. However, he did get in DD's doghouse for his attitude early on, and he never lived up to his potential. I took Harry's comments as, he was appreciated, but he didn't block well (like a true FB). He got the job done. Nothing derogatory.
  6. I think calling the Denia hissy fit the "Golf Course War" is terrible... Showing complete and selfish over-importance for their neighborhood ( not to mention showing little sensitivity for current events). Comparing anything to war is stupid -- unless, well, it is war. That day will come I see Denia residents out there losing their lives to stop the invasion of the UNT infidels. Damn these people.
  7. UNT96 ... How evil are thee?! Let GG be. For eternity. In the glee. For UNT.
  8. More so, you should want to watch the last Mav's game of the regular season. GO MAV'S! TVGuide Flip between the two games...
  9. In the mp3 player: Elvis Costello Lamb Pulp Magnetic Fields Foutains of Wayne ..and... Little Grizzly -- for the Denton connection.
  10. I think 23 is the perfect age. Enjoy your year, it may be the best you have in a long while (it isn't as cynical as it sounds)
  11. If Davis was out of his slump (and at one point hit 3 three pointers in a row) why didn't he shoot more when we needed it? I drove up and yelled like a mad man ... I was dissappointed by the outcome. TCU had the shots though. Great shooting on their part. The officials were VERY inconsistent.
  12. Maybe MGTB wants RV's job -- so he is starting an underground coup. Too many late night bean burritos and TBN for you, MGTB.
  13. If he is indeed the coach and not someone just using his name (like I am not Steamin' Willie Beamin in real life, but I use the name) -- then he should take the criticism and remarks as things to improve on. NOT, and I will repeat for him, **NOT** just make excuses and tell us to be more positive. This past Saturday, I went in to Bagelstien's cafe in Dallas and ordered the salmon and cream cheese bagel. The salmon and cream cheese were great. However, the bagel was so hard that I couldn't eat it! I picked around the bagel until the manager walked by and asked how our meals were... when I just commented on the quality of the bagel... he looked at me and said I was too negative and I should appreciate the cheese and fish. He said that he would enjoy the bagel if it were on his plate to eat. Get a load of this, he said that if I didn't like the bagels he had in his store, that I could buy his whole store a different kind of bagel to serve! The nerve, eh? Ok, that didn't really happen. But, if it did, I would hope the manager would wake up and realize how pathetic he acted. I would also hope he would go to the bakery and get new bagels instead of saying I am the problem for pointing them out. Telling us to turn a blind eye is not the answer. My original post (from a LONG time ago) were about *my* experience that weekend. Signed, Tyson Thomas Oh. SWB
  14. I don't know why this a$$ clown brought it back up. I am very clear on my opinion -- yet he gets lost in it somehow. I am very positive about UNT football. I go to every game. I go to some of the away games when possible. I give $$ to the program. I am not going to act like I don't have an opinion. Once again, I didn't say the cheerleaders are a bad idea, or that they AREN'T GOOD FOR THE CHILDREN. I said they can do better work getting the ADULTS in to the game. You can like them. You can even love them. I am not telling you what to think. I think they don't do enough to get the fans in the game. Saying that they *may not* understand what is going on the field is degrading. (ha). They aren't airheads. They have the capacity to cheer on the team, the crowd and themselves at the same time. And yes, the cheerleaders *do* have megaphones. The male cheerleaders are cheerleaders as well. I wasn't only talking about the women.
  15. I am in. I will start it. I am pretty LOUD at the games. I was actually told to shut up this last game.
  16. No my friend. I never said the cheerleaders are pathetic. I said they can't cheer worth a damn. Oh, they can tumble and dance to music better than all of them. But leading the football fans in cheers and getting them pumped up on big downs -- they are horrible at this. That is where my complaint stems. I can't help to notice it.. I am 50 yard line in the 10th row. They are right in front of me. I can be heard over all of them and they have megaphones! I would sit elsewhere, but my season tickets are there. The band school isn't the "largest" in the nation. Last I heard their were less than a 1000 music students. I know UT has more than that -- if you are talking shear "largeness" of the school. They win awards in their Jazz studies... I think everyone at the university is (or can be) proud of that fact. However, the Jazz program doesn't perform at the games. No one is talking about them. I, for one, have no problem with the band at all (well, besides the "Fly like an Eagle" song being played too often! ). We are talking about the football games -- not what they do outside the game. They get their jobs done in their fields, but not at the football field. That is all. We can complain about thier football performance without bagging on their programs on a whole. Do you come to the games? Maybe you don't have an accurate opinion.
  17. Two things: 1) Our cheerleaders claim to not be like the *normal* cheersquads. In fact, they have two champsionships in three years to boost their egos. 2) Normally the attendance is so large at the games that people can't even see the cheerleaders. Fouts is much different. We see more of the track than the field... they are on the track... we see A LOT of the cheerleaders. Maybe this explains why their faults are so obvious?
  18. The scoreboard (our jumbotron ) said that the Wendy's Fry T-shirt Cannon was in the house ... but I didn't see it. Maybe the cheerleaders didn't feel like straining themselves. I jest.
  19. All you do is repeat yourself a million times in a million threads. Oh wait, you also throw out a racial slur in reference to Donnie McGee and how hard he hits.
  20. No, I am not taking this time to complain about DD. He is ridiculously horrible at calling plays.. but that isn't what this point is about. The cheerleaders are the worst I have EVER seen. They stand facing the game and only start the "DEFENSE" chant after someone in the crowd gets it going first and then the cheerleaders turn around and join in. The entire 4th quarter was 3rd and 4 type situations. We needed noise. We needed the defense to know we had their back. The cheerleaders only seem to cheer themselves. I am thankful for the cones they handed out before the game. I actually was calling out the cheerleaders to do their job. "Come on CHEERLEADERS we need you! DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE" "Come on CHEERLEADERS do your job! DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE" "Come on CHEERLEADERS cheer! DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE" "Porkchops porkchops greasy greasy. Scoring on the Bulls is easy easy." ... anything to get the crowd and cheerleaders in to it. When I yelled this, the curly haired love-handle cheerleader turned around and shot me a glare.. then they turned around and joined in. A male cheerleader pointed at me in a threatening way and squinted his eyes. I thought of the movie Bring it On. Sparky Pollanski said, "Cheerleaders ... are dancers gone retarded." I didn't care. I kept calling them out each time. What is the point of chanting defense between plays or while the play is going on?! I think they do it because then they are the only wons being heard. I propose that FFR gets a megaphone and stands in the front row and gets the crowd going. I know he can do it... He who is stunned by this loss, SWB
  21. Very interesting. Thanks for the details. I love to hear stuff like this. On top of that, she doesn't hide the fact that she attended UNT. It is on her official site. Good times!
  22. When the economy makes people enroll in school again. This is to be expected..
  23. I was irritated by the guy wearing a unt greek shirt and a bright blue cap with a red pony on the front. Every time I looked toward the field -- all I could see was the acronymn SMU in front of me. I don't understand this. He goes to UNT, but wears other schools' clothes? This isn't rocket science. I am not saying ALL greeks do it, nor am I saying they are the ONLY ones to do it... I do only tend to see the A&M, TT, UT and SMU hats on them. I live in Dallas and went to the TCU game. Afterwards I drove up to UNT to go hit the bars and talk to people about the game. The bartender at Cool Beans asked the score, but then said he really didn't care because he is a TT fan. He went on to say that he graduated from UNT, but likes TT better. It confuses me.
  24. This is curious. Lastnight I was watching Free Speech Television on Dish Network. I wanted to see what the 'free thinkers -- truly liberal and correct' people had to say about September 11th. I truly truly truly want to understand the otherside. I really do. I am FAR from being Republican. I want to see both sides. Anyhow, all I got for the two hours I watched was the patriotism is bad. Patriotism isn't bad. They are misusing the word. They mean blind faith, or cattle vision, not patriotism. Just because I say I love this country, doesn't mean I can't say in the next breath that I disagree with what happens sometimes. I got in a semi argument last Saturday night with a friend about 9/11. He said flying flags and bandwagon patriots are lame. They are as bad as the idiots who fly the planes into the buildings. He said we should think for ourselves and not hide behind a flag. We should realize what our country does... How is saying you are happy with your country and your life implying that you agree with everything that goes down? I love that I can question the powers that be, question their authority, question what PLAYS THEY ARE CALLING. This goes with bombing Iraq or bombing against NSU. I love that I can question and voice my opinion. Go Mean Green. UNT Patriot.
