  3. If I didn't know who Larry McMurtry was I would be embarrassed to admit it.
  4. VOTE??? Nobody asked me if I liked the new shade of green. I agree with good_ken. It's almost as if the powers that be are afraid that if anything stays around more than a couple of years a tradition might arise.
  5. I grew up in the Wichita Falls area and I am fairly certain that Iowa Park borrowed "Mean Green" from UNT, although I am not certain of this. I do know that I never heard the Iowa Park Hawks referred to as "Mean Green" until after I graduated high school in 1967, and my high school played them every year. My best guess is that UNT popularized "Mean Green," and the Hawks adopted it shortly thereafter.
  6. Screaming Eagle...I arrived at North Texas as a freshman in 1967. I distinctly remember putting a bumper sticker on my car either that fall or the fall of 1968 that said, "Mean Green." The reason I remember is that my brother, a graduate of OU, looked at that bumper sticker and said, "WHAT is a Mean Green?" I answered him, "Oh...that's kinda like a Big Red." Then he understood.

  8. ...or when we all live in a yellow submarine.
  9. My priorities for our football program are as follows: 1. WIN! 2. Build a stadium And in that order!
  10. I just want the best for Jamario, whatever that might be. He seems like such a class act! Keep us posted...
  11. This is the best line: "With an enrollment of more than 32,000 students, UNT is the largest university in north Texas and the fourth largest in the formerly independent and sovereign nation of Texas -- that's half the size of Denton Bible Church. "
  12. So...is the Spring Game going to be broadcast by KNTU? Thanks.
  13. I don't know if you young folks have any idea what a coups it would be to hire Nancy Lieberman. This would be like hiring Michael Jordan to coach the men's team.
  14. Good luck, Jamario! We love you!!!
  15. I have two degrees from North Texas and a Master's degree from TCU. Trust me...I value the education I received at NT FAR ABOVE what I received at TCU. More expensive does not mean better. When I was ready to get a third degree, I went back to the place where I received the better education in the first place, and that school was in Denton.
  16. Yeah...no wonder I thought they looked sharp.
  17. Congratulations, Hilltoppers....you bring honor to the Sun Belt.
  18. I recently stayed in the Radisson, on the fourth floor I think, overlooking the stadium. I was shocked at what a terrific view of the stadium/playing field there was from up there. It would have been a terrific place to watch the game while listening to KNTU...honestly, you could see everything. I wondered if folks had ever rented rooms just for that purpose. Fouts looks pretty good from that vantage point, I'll tell you.
  19. Congratulations, Riley....and welcome aboard! GMG!!!
