Mean Green Softball Makes Additions to Coaching Staff

DENTON (9/11/03) -- Head Softball Coach Stacey Segal has announced that T.J. Hubbard and Amber Mosher-Pearce have been added to the Mean Green softball coaching staff.

Hubbard brings a wealth of experience with him to North Texas, having previously coached at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma.

"T.J. has already proven to be an outstanding addition to our softball program," said Segal. "His strengths are defense and hitting and the ability to adapt into any environment."

Hubbard is a 2002 graduate of Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management. He was a three-year letterman for the Eagles baseball team as a second baseman. He transferred to OWU from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

While at Oklahoma Wesleyan, he competed on OWU’s inaugural team in 1999. In 2000, Hubbard helped lead the Eagles to a post-season bid where they finished second in the Midwestern Athletic Conference.

Prior to his arrival at North Texas, Hubbard was the Assistant Softball Coach at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma. In 2003, Hubbard help lead the Lady Trojans to a 64-16 record, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region II Championship, and a third-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships.

Hubbard has coached six NJCAA All-Americans and had three players named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team. In addition, the Seminole State College coaching staff was the 2003 NJCAA Coaching Staff of the Year Runner-Up.

Mosher-Pearce comes to North Texas after a stellar collegiate career. Her strengths are pitching and playing the outfield. In addition to her coaching duties, Amber will be the team’s equipment manager.

Mosher-Pearce received her Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma in 2003. While at OCU, Mosher-Pearce led the Eagles to the school's first ever National Association Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament appearance. Amber holds the school record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched. She was selected as a NAIA All-American, NFCA All-Region, All-Region VI Pitcher of the Week, All-Conference, and to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team.

Prior to transferring to OCU for her senior season, Mosher-Pearce attended New Mexico State for two seasons and was a member of the Aggie softball team. As a freshman, Amber attended Texas State University, formerly Southwest Texas State University. She currently holds the school record for wins and strikeouts in a season. As a member of the Bobcats, Mosher was selected to the Southland Conference Team as a pitcher and was the Southland Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player in 1999.

A native of Irving, Texas, Amber is married to Steven Pearce.
