  2. i think its a great idea to have some "BLEACHER BUMS".... However, since we are playing on a city park, a portable set of bleachers will kill the grass between the two fences........ which needs to be used once we are finished playing there.... MIGHT BE A ????? FOR THE CITY AND RICK V.... I will ask...... or feel free.... Might have to wait until the stadium is done........ Thank you for coming out to the ballpark... WEDNESDAY GAME TIME 1/3pm vs CENTENARY!!! Last game of home stand until after spring break!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  3. Hi there MEAN GREEN!! No, we will not charge admission to our home games, just the tournament in March. Thank you for coming out. You missed a great game this evening against UTA.... We won in the 8th inning, 4-3....... YEAH!

  5. the scrimmage on the 28th will be held at Denia Park. It's located between McCormick and FTW Drive. From UNT. Go South on I-35 and turn right on McCormick. Follow McCormick until it dead ends into Parvin Street. Turn left. Denia Park is on the right. YOU CANNOT MISS IT!! GMG!

  7. The time for the scrimmage game on the 28th against Texarkana is at 3/5pm. It will be held at Denia Park. The game time for the scrimmage against Texas Woman's U on Feb 2 is at 4:30 at TWU. 13 days until scrimmages!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. Mean Green Softball Makes Additions to Coaching Staff DENTON (9/11/03) -- Head Softball Coach Stacey Segal has announced that T.J. Hubbard and Amber Mosher-Pearce have been added to the Mean Green softball coaching staff. Hubbard brings a wealth of experience with him to North Texas, having previously coached at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma. "T.J. has already proven to be an outstanding addition to our softball program," said Segal. "His strengths are defense and hitting and the ability to adapt into any environment." Hubbard is a 2002 graduate of Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management. He was a three-year letterman for the Eagles baseball team as a second baseman. He transferred to OWU from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. While at Oklahoma Wesleyan, he competed on OWU’s inaugural team in 1999. In 2000, Hubbard helped lead the Eagles to a post-season bid where they finished second in the Midwestern Athletic Conference. Prior to his arrival at North Texas, Hubbard was the Assistant Softball Coach at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma. In 2003, Hubbard help lead the Lady Trojans to a 64-16 record, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region II Championship, and a third-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships. Hubbard has coached six NJCAA All-Americans and had three players named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team. In addition, the Seminole State College coaching staff was the 2003 NJCAA Coaching Staff of the Year Runner-Up. Mosher-Pearce comes to North Texas after a stellar collegiate career. Her strengths are pitching and playing the outfield. In addition to her coaching duties, Amber will be the team’s equipment manager. Mosher-Pearce received her Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma in 2003. While at OCU, Mosher-Pearce led the Eagles to the school's first ever National Association Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament appearance. Amber holds the school record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched. She was selected as a NAIA All-American, NFCA All-Region, All-Region VI Pitcher of the Week, All-Conference, and to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team. Prior to transferring to OCU for her senior season, Mosher-Pearce attended New Mexico State for two seasons and was a member of the Aggie softball team. As a freshman, Amber attended Texas State University, formerly Southwest Texas State University. She currently holds the school record for wins and strikeouts in a season. As a member of the Bobcats, Mosher was selected to the Southland Conference Team as a pitcher and was the Southland Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player in 1999. A native of Irving, Texas, Amber is married to Steven Pearce.
  9. The University of North Texas will host the first ever NORTH TEXAS FALL CLASSIC on OCTOBER 4-5 at Denia Park in Denton. UNT will play three games on Saturday and three games on Sunday. The tournament field will consist of 16 teams. Game times will begin each day at 8:00am and continue every two hours until 8:00pm. GO MEAN GREEN!

Blinn's Hacker Named to NJCAA All-Star Team Former Blinn College pitcher Mandy Hacker has been selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Star Team that will participate in the 2003 Canada Cup International Women's Fastpitch Tournament in Surrey, British Columbia, July 5-13. Hacker was one of 15 players selected from junior colleges throughout the country. Hacker, an NJCAA all American, was a sophomore this past season on the Lady Buc team that finished second at the national tournament in Clermont, Fla. She came to Blinn from Midland Lee High School and has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of North Texas. The Canada Cup tournament features teams from around the world. Mandy will have the opportunity to compete against the USA National Team, China, Canada, and others.

GT(N)T, We are scheduled to play in a tournament at the University of Texas at San Antonio, in February, as well as play a doubleheader against #3 ranked, and Women's College World Series participant, the University of Texas. That is as far south as we will travel for the 2004 spring season. We will also play a fall scrimmage in Houston in October.   12. Post season accolades continue for three of the incoming MEAN GREEN softball players. Junior College transfers, Mandy Hacker (P), and outfielder Stephanie Cranmer were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American 1st Team. The week prior, Hacker and Cranmer were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association 1st Team. Catcher, Sonia Medina was also named to the NFCA NJCAA II, All-American 1st team.... Is the season here yet????? GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. Evan- Hello. Wow.. lots of activity on this site since leaving for camps last week... Softball is played on a skinned infield because it is....... It always has been. The old "sandlot" term is true!!! LOL There is no justification on why? Ever since the NCAA sponsored softball in 1982 is has been on all-dirt infields.

  15. It starts this fall. We play a brief fall scrimmage schedule in 2003. Oct 4-5th will be our first home scrimmage, and then our opening day is Feb 4th at Texas A&M!! We will play our home games at Denia Park in Denton.
