Brett Medeiros / Senior Staff Writer - UNT has gone through monumental athletic changes in the last 10 to 15 years. Before the changes, there were part-time coaches and inadequate facilities, and UNT simply was not able to attract the best athletes to the school. I spoke with Athletic Director Rick Villarreal earlier in the week, and one of the things he mentioned was that about 30 years ago UNT had ignored athletics and only had sports at the school because that was what you were supposed to do. I'm glad for the positive press by the Daily, but I don't find anything new or particularly interesting in the article.

Good for the students to learn about The history.

If they even read the Daily.

  Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Purdue, West Virginia, Rutgers, Iowa State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Boston College, and Cal SMU is below those schools....so if they're not included (they won't be....there's a huge difference between Ohio St, Texas, Bama and those schools) then SMU for sure won't be.

  And I'm ok with the Top 40-45 football powers doing their own playoff...as long as the weak links are demoted. It's not a true Power league with the likes of Smut and the schools you name above making the cut.

  I figure if the AD is actually going to being running NIL then they should have NFL type contracts and if the P4 wants to buy our player, they have to pay him AND us to get him out of the current contract.
