Wyoming got Mizzou's offense coordinator. We paid about the same for Dodge. This should trump all of the "we can't/couldn't afford" an assistant from a BCS school non-sense.

The truth is, coaches are competitive and want to earn their spurs. They know lifting the fortunes of a non-BCS school could be their ticket to bigger and better jobs. Many here say, "well, no one would take this job." Not true. The are tons of assistants who would take this or any job in order to get their chance to prove themselves. Being the head coach is the next step up.

Good luck to Wyoming. Congrats to their fan base and athletic director for aiming upward and striking quickly in their coaching search.

Let's all hope the powers that be will do this for us someday.

Isn't the Missouri offensive coordinator the same guy who was asking Todd Dodge for advice on how to coach the spread offense a few seasons ago? Why hire the student, when you can hire the teacher?

Someday, I hope you realize the situation Dodge stepped in to and give the man a chance to succeed with his players that are juniors and seniors instead of freshmen and sophmores. The man going to Wyoming has done absolutely nothing to this point and could be a total failure. Just look at Syracuse. BCS school with a history of success, hires a BCS coordinator from a successful program and is looking for another coach now. How many years was Robinson given to succeed there? You telling me that Dodge shouldn't be given the same amount of time considering the situation that he inherited at NT? What about Chizic at Iowa State? You should pull your head out and realize the state of the NT program that Dodge was given to work with.

Because it took the student about 5 seconds to incorporate college level ideas: a TE, recruiting lineman, etc.

His teacher down here in Texas took 1.5 seasons to get his tornado package in and couldn't talk a lineman to commit to us if he offered him schollies and free pizza for a year.

No. It's the story the Dodge-bangers like to tell. Of course, they forget that Gary Pinkel was coaching on the offensive side of the ball when Todd Dodge was still in high school, and sending QBs to the pros when he was still setting interception records at Texas.

The lie is that Todd Dodge changed Missouri. He didn't. It's the most laughable and untrue thing that gets repeated around here - Dodge "teaching" Pinkel or Christensen anything. Dodge will never have one-tenth the success at the colleg level that either of those two have had.

Here's a small example: Tight End. Gee, even hear of one of those? It's prominently featured in Pinkel's offense. Not really a concept he or his coordinator could have lifted from Dodge, eh?

He's been coaching with Pinkel for the better part of three decades and his been his offensive coordinator for tha past 12 years - long before Chase Daniel ever set foot on campus. And, his offenses were setting Mizzou records long before Chase Daniel arrived. And, his offenses, with and without Chase Daniel, at Mizzou and everywhere he's been have featured the the tight end in the passing game. To suggest otherwise, or make more of a two coaches talking to one another about a recruit, is absurd but right on par for those who still like to pretend that Todd Dodge has some sort of value beyond gameplanning for Grapevine or Coppell.

Try to derail to main point all you like, but it remains - Wyoming got a BCS school's offensive coordinator at about the same price we got Dodge. Many around here continually argue that it can't be done. Someday, it will be done here. It will just take a new athletic director to do it, apparently.

Someday a real coach will be hired here and will win with the players he "inherits" on his roster. He won't make excuses or need to have suckups make excuses for him or perpetuate outright lies about his stature and influence in the game. The team's results on the field will speak for themselves - just as Dodge's team's results speak loud and clear about his ability and grasp of the game at this level.

Gee, I noticed you chose not to reply to my comments about Robinson or Chizic that were hired for much more than Dodge or the new coach at Wyoming. Assistants are never a sure thing at any level. Some are just not cut out to be the head coach. The examples are everywhere.

Of course your total disdain for Dodge would never allow you to give him any credit or allow you to ever acknowledge the situation he inherited. Your only strength is your professional training to argue at all costs and your proficiency at name calling.

Why don't you go restart the fire Dodge website and talk to yourself? Oh, that's right, you couldn't resort to calling anyone suck ups when the other 1 or 2 posters agree with you.
