    With the lack of qualified candidate on remaining staff, that would have to be the worst thing possible. Bloesch is going to Cal and Bennett is all but certain to go back into retirement. So now you’re looking at promoting a position coach and none of them are close to ready to make that jump. But I hope Cobbs is someday.

    Fair enough. He probably would be the pick with the most likelihood of winning. All but guaranteed to be a winner. However, I’ll take my chances with someone else for now.

    Wife went to TCU, so I married into it. She’s also a fan of football so it makes it fun. We still spend way more time and money on UNT than we do TCU so it’s all good in my book. 😂

    Def not a total rebuild. But if it wasn't at least a little bit messy, then Seth would still be here. We're on the up swing, but we need to hire someone that can extend that for us.

    None of this coaching staff is concerned with getting experience for another QB. They'll start Aune and play him for the whole game in an effort to win.

    AD's don't suddenly get to rehire every coach of every sport when they arrive. I don't see this being an issue whether the FB coach is hired 7 years or 1 week before an incoming AD.

    The way I see it, we saved Seth from leaving here with a losing record. No one believes he stood a chance in the bowl game, as his record has shown. And if we kept him around that long, he would have left here with a losing record. We did him a favor since he doesn't have to put a losing record on his CV.

    HC positions are filled pretty quickly. Those guys need to hit the ground running and get to work. We're already a week behind since we played in a conference championship game so urgency is of utmost importance. I would not be surprised to hear something tomorrow or Friday. Would be nice to give the commentators of the Army-Navy game something to talk about on the broadcast. But I won't be surprised to hear something by the end of the weekend. If we wait until Monday or Tuesday, we're running behind.

    I think the tone you start off with for taking over a 1-11 program is different than taking over a 7-6 program. Encouraging the entire team to jump in the portal would be a bad idea. But if any of those kids want to come play here, I’m sure they’ve got some talent to help us in the AAC.

    Assistant coach buyouts are a lot less than HC buyouts.

    Yeah. He won the award while at Michigan and moved to Miami for some reason. But it goes to show the kind of interest these winners draw. Although, P5 OC vs G5 HC is debatable.

    Got curious so I looked it up. Here’s where some recent award winners are now… 2019 - now the QB coach for Buffalo Bills 2020 - HC at Texas 2021 - OC at Miami

    Tend to agree. I feel like this kind of award is going to draw more P5 interest.

    This is my guess too. Take an offensive analyst job for TCU while still collecting a check from us for $1.6M.

    I like Skip and I wouldn't be mad at that hire. But I don't think it's flashy enough for people.

    I had heard that Wren and Seth’s relationship was strained and Wren wanted to let him go but his hands were tied by the powers that be. 🤷‍♂️ And if Jared was Wren’s savior, then he would do what it takes to take him to WV too. The only reason I could see Jared staying behind would be if he thought he had a shot at the job here. And this school administration doesn’t seem like the "promote from within" type of leadership.
