  1. Believe me, the Exes are aware of it....and are most puzzled.
  2. Do we have to go to UTA this season? Just wondered if anyone knows if we have to go to Texas Hall.
  3. Inside sources told me that Navy has already taken 7,000 for our game. What an impact a large attendance from our visitors will have on total game day attendance.
  4. In one of college football's most amazing plays, Todd Dodge will score the first touchdown on a 'coach eligible' play.
  5. Here is a question for those who don't want to join the Exes. Would we have lost the Law School this legislative session if we had an organized Exes assn. with 40,000 members? I doubt it.
  6. What is the difference between Paris Hilton and an SMU coed? Paris Hilton got caught.
  7. I noticed from the list of possible buildings to have your name on for a price that there was no mention of the bathrooms in the various facilities. I think it would be nice to have a bathroom named after someone, and the price can't be that bad.
  8. Basketball deserves all the attention that football gets relative to support from the athletic department staff....it has not gotten it in the past. Perhaps the NCAA appearance has shown them the potential out there for some basketball success at a high level. The big question is do they have a clue as to how to adequately promote basketball and do they have the will?
  9. This could turn into another embarrassment from a home fan attendance standpoint. We have played Houston and Indiana in recent memory and both were home games for the opponents, as they had more fans than we did. Perhaps this will not be the case this season.
  10. Does anyone know how much money NT made from the NCAA Tournament appearance?
  11. What a stupidly sad situation....we want games and SMU wants games and we will never work out a deal, thanks to SMU arrogance.
  12. I hope he is agile enough to leap over the orchestra pit.
  13. Once again, North Texas passes up an opportunity to hire one of its own. When will we get someone in the athletic department who actually went to school here and bleeds green? Why not Deon Hunter or Wendell Williams or Tony Worrell....they would be a good fit.
  14. Maybe it is based on his recruiting and the fact that we had 5,000 at the spring game.
  15. Embarrassment can be a two way street.
  16. Matt Simon is the 'artist' who came up with that helmet design.
  17. JJ at least has a lot more clout with which to recruit since he made the tournament. Back in Blakeley's era we had a seven foot Swede who played limitedly. He really was not much of a factor, but European basketball has come a long way since then.
  18. Contact the Exes office at 1-800-UNT-1153 and ask for Cindy.
  19. The fun thing about going to a TSU game is the fact that if the game gets dull, there is always the excitement of a train ramblling down the tracks about 50 feet from the stadium. It's first and ten and your team has the ball on the five at the end of the field by the railroad tracks and just as the quarterback gets the ball, here comes the ole Santa Fe Chief roaring by...man, that's college football at its best.
  20. Earth to SMU...the real interest in college football will be in Denton this season. TCU will draw well, but the real turnaround will be in Denton at little ole NTSU.
  21. Anyone think that there will be any surprise announcements at the basketball banquet Wednesday night? Johnny's contract, future scheduling, signings, etc. Maybe they will use this crowd to make some updates.
  22. Here is a very small element of the day, but it is rather significant. At the beginning of the game the public address announcer said, 'The City of Denton, Chancellor Lee Jackson, President Gretchen Battille, etc. welcome you to the Green and White scrimmage, etc. I thought it was significant that the City of Denton was mentioned as a host....I hope this translates into more Denton participation.
  23. A really nice trip down memory lane. Back then, there was very little promotion for the games and the attendance was not what it should have been. Since the fan base was low, there were very little bowls interested in us. One debate that will never be settled is the attendance for the '67 championship game vs. Tulsa. I was there and I thought it was a sellout. The athletic department did not agree and listed the attendance in the 18,000 range. The North Texas community was spoiled rotten by these magnificent athletes and many never came to realize the level of athletes that it had the opportunity to come watch. Back then many campus organizations had spirit signs located across from the administration building for each home game and there were a lot of pep rallies.
  24. Since, apparently, the administration and Johnny (and his agent) are involved in a 'dance of scorpions', it is not surprising that there has been disappointing recruiting. How sad, but this is North Texas and it is 'only basketball.'
