I’m not familiar with JT’s full story, but I found an article saying he got a waiver when he went to Georgia. I think the January rule is tightening down on waivers. That’s what Mack is complaining about.

He already used his free transfer and they filed a waiver that would keep him from having to sit out a year.

The funny thing to me is the schools are literally the ones who vote on the rules and give the NCAA their marching orders. Mack can't really act like the NCAA is just going rogue. The Division I Council (made up of representatives of athletics department staff members) made a decision in January to tighten up the waiver process.

I'm not a CPA, and you're right that it can be a deduction. It is not, however, a wash. As far as the AD having staff who look for these types of donations... Yes, they do. Our problem is we really haven't brought any new names into the fold in a long time. This is why I think fundraisers should all be paid commission, even though I know a lot of people don't like the idea of people getting paid commission on donations. At the very least, there should be goals and significant bonuses for fundraisers who excel.

This is just further evidence that geography does not equal eyeballs. That’s why so much of the conference realignment talk about media markets is just ridiculous.

Could you imagine a coach coming out and saying anything other than they expect to compete for a conference championship in the preseason?

It’s funny to me how the transfer portal threads talk about this program needing to be a complete rebuild with 50+ transfers, but the mere suggestion that Coach Morris might have taken over a “mess” has turned into this program not being a rebuild. You can’t really have it both ways.

Maybe mess isn’t the right word, but it’s very disingenuous to suggest everyone thought this program was in great shape and content with 6 bowls in 7 years. It wasn’t where anyone here wanted it.

I guess the thing I’m trying to wrap my head around is where you draw the line. Take Colorado for example. Let’s say they finish this year 5-7 and Deion wants some new luggage. Does he just purge his whole roster again? What’s the long term impact to the program?
