  1. For college football, I expect the Big 10 and SEC to get bigger and the eventual structure to end up being similar to the NFL with divisions, conferences, and playoffs that reward division winners, conference winners and an eventual “Super Bowl.” I also expect those conferences to formalize a system where players get paid directly by the institutions. I don’t really expect the “rest of the G5” to be a part of this new model.
  2. Deion’s awesome! I’m glad he’s making the rounds in DFW and still involved in the program.
  3. I don’t think it is. If they were good enough when they left our program to make the roster at the new school, the reason they’re not contributing is on the player or the new coaches.
  4. $150k/yr before I even went to start my career would have given me a pretty big head start financially. They’re still part of a team, get to practice, work out, network with alums, and have a shot to play… all with a nice little nest egg. Seems like a no brainer in the current system.
  5. Honestly, if Sundays aren’t in their future, my recommendation to players would probably be to go get paid for Saturdays. A cash base before taking your first career job would be really helpful.
  6. Yes, it’s a cheap shot. You’ve thrown out several things about him on this thread that you’re trying to play off as you just being curious or asking questions.
  7. A clown show? They’ve sold out every game, brought a ton of national (and positive) exposure to CU, etc. CU is better off for having hired Deion. I tend to agree that he would not have come here, but to act like we are above what he’s done with that program is pretty ridiculous. What he’s done there is set that program up for success. As far as your cheap shot on Coach O… I think that’s a garbage comment.
  8. If you’re recruiting that caliber of athlete and training them up, your program will be winning lots of games in the American, despite transfers out. I’ll also add, in reference to size of these athletes, with a good strength and nutrition program these guys can put on or take off a lot of weight between now and fall camp.
  9. I’m not disputing that athletic departments have some involvement in NIL conversations and may be funneling some names to the outside entities. I don’t think most schools have employees who have that as their “primary focus.” If that makes me naive, maybe I am. I’m okay with that.
  10. I don’t know that that’s true. With the IRS threatening to revoke 501c3 statuses, the universities better be careful how involved they are.
  11. Seems very relevant to football since this position is responsible for fundraising, licensing, sponsorships, ticket sales, etc. And since NIL is outside of the university, I don’t see what it has to do with this position.
  12. Why abolish? Seems like a Top 5 position in terms of importance.
  13. DRC Chief Revenue Officer position in the AD
  14. Agree with JD that you never know what position these guys end up at in college. Also “we” often don’t know as much about what “we” are talking about as “we” think “we” do.
  15. It must have been one of the X moderators
  16. Honestly, reading through this is what makes me think this coaching staff gets it and will figure it out.
  17. That was pure coach speak. Most coaches not named Deion aren’t going to publicly trash talk their players.
  18. I sure did. They look like a 3 week old coaching staff and team still figuring some things out about each other. You can say it’s not a rebuild until you’re blue in the face. That doesn’t make it true. Maybe it’s not a rebuild like prior UNT coaches have walked into, but nobody was bragging about how great this football program was set up for the future at the end of last season.
  19. A fire the head coach thread a couple of weeks into his first football season is pretty embarrassing and disappointing too.
