  1. This was truly a bad statement by myself. After studying the numbers of other true fr QB's dating back to 2013 I think if he put up the numbers I mentioned above it would mean he is probably headed for an all conf/all american career. With the talent around him it would be a miracle if he threw for 2500 yards. I would consider it a success if he throws for close to 2000 yards, a TD to INT ratio of a little above or right at 1 to 1. I do think his completion percentage should be close to 60 maybe not 60 but above 55. I apologize for putting out unreal expectations.
  2. Sorry didn't mean to say JUCO meant Grad transfer. You can never have enough QBs and competition. If Fine is successful like over 2500 yards passing and around 60% completion percentage with a good TD to INT ratio they will probably feel good with just Pearson, Fine, OHara and walkons. Managing the games, protecting the ball, and all the intangibles are not enough to warrant a successful year. He's got to produce big. And 2500 yards is low for what kind of production should come from a QB in this offense. Thats just my bad analysis.
  3. I won't focus on his height, but he's done nothing on the field to make me believe he is the answer. I won't even say that Cade Pearson as a true freshman next year is the answer. I believe we are 2 years away from answering the QB issue.
  4. There are plenty of folks watching him. He has played really well. Should be interesting to see a competition between Fine Pearson and probably a JUCO guy.
  5. Dont add Army to that list. They are far superior to those teams.
  6. For those of you who predicted UNT to score 20 or more points You think that this offense led by a 5'10 true freshman QB whose shown no dynamic ability in the pass game IS about to score 20 points against an SEC defense? A defense that is one of the best in the country. That has a tremendous secondary and DL. Our non explosive offense is going to march down the field on these guys? Our offense is more steady than explosive and it's hard to sustain long drives against a D like that. If Mason Fine was a 5 star QB with NFL caliber talent I could see that happening. You just don't go into these kinda of games with below avg WRs and a OL that can't pass block and expect to score a lot of points. True FR QB led teams at G5 schools don't beat ranked teams on the road and they rarely look good. Our best hope is for our defense to play steady and keep it close. Their offense is not that explosive. If we win it will be with scores in the teens. Our saving grace may be they have a huge matchup next week vs ranked Tennessee. So no matter what their coaches preach to them they won't focus on us.
  7. Wilson is our best overall player, but no doubt Ivery is explosive. Both Tucker and Ivery deserve more touches, especially now that we have a FR QB and a weak passing game.
  8. Wouldn't be surprised if Fine is starting bc Morris is banged up. Starting Fine allows Morris to get some rest before Florida bc we will need both guys against them.
  9. They actually have a coach who knows how to win running the option. Monken is a really good coach.
  10. More raw talent than PSU IMO. Not as good in the execution dept. Last year I think Portland St was what ranked 10th in FCS or 17th. This Cookman team is probably top 40.
  11. I stick with what my computer project had North Texas 34 Cookman 27
  12. It's really not a poll of reality. It's a poll largely based on what happened last year.
  13. You know the last time we had a QB throw more than 30 passes and complete at least 60% of them ... Derek Thompson against UNLV
  14. So you waited to look over my Inside the Gridiron-Cookman to make your prediction ay? You had to analyze all the stats.
  15. It's not so much their QB, but the fact that their talent and depth is pretty equal to ours. I'd say their WRs are more proven. I'd say their OL is better than ours. I'd say their DL is pretty deep. 7 1st team All MEAC Preseaon selections. If you put UNT in their conference I'm not sure we'd have 7. We might have slightly better depth and overall talent. I think our players are more sound fundamentally. So we should get a W, but close.
  16. Ward got beat up Yes. But I think we can all agree our OL vs one of the better SEC DLs is not a matchup that bodes well for a small FR QB. I hope he plays some in the game, but I'd give Morris the bulk of the work. Ward is also a SR. That's 4 years in a college weight and nutrition program. Fine is a young pup.

  18. There is no ground and pound game for this team. Time to move on from that.
  19. Sturm isnt that impressive. Had a decent game against a team that was ranked 77th in pass defense in FCS. Bama St hasnt played an FBS opponent since 2013 Withers is for real, he did that with 47 walkons. He only had 32 players with real experience. It looked like Ohio was going to blow them out, but TXST battled. Ohio didnt think they'd show up to play.
  20. I plan on doing so as well. I find it good that so many people have been high on the BEIN sports channel.
  21. Not sure, but Im reading the comments here http://csnbbs.com/thread-789489.html
