They got higher quality players in probably a tougher area to recruit. Also to your point on the battle in the trenches. Monken was getting recruits from SEC affiliated states. Its been no question that the SEC has been so dominant over the past few years because of their DL's and OL's. I dont mean to turn this into a battle of which state has better high school football. I dont think we have to emulate anybody on how to build a team. Just go find players that fit this system, which shouldnt be hard to do in Texas. I do think we need to emulate a couple of programs in marketing and off the field strategy. We are way behind in that area. We need more innovation and creativity to flow through the athletic dept.

Nick Mullens never struggled before Monken. Monken & Lindsey recruited him and developed him. Threw him to the wolves early and let him get his bumps and bruises. Does Littrell have that guy he is ready to do that with? I'd say no. I would argue that Mississippi is a very good state for football recruiting. Lots of good JUCO programs around that USM tapped into. Having lived there before I'd say their high school football teams are pretty legit too. I was amazed how big a lot of their high school football prospects looked compared to the Texas kids. The plan is pretty general get faster, bigger, stronger and find a QB. Pretty much what every team tries to do.

I dont trust anything Ashton says about the QB position. His talent evaluations are weak.

You say some smart things this is not one of them.Guys like Dane Bruglar, who do their homework, probably even more so than some teams had Orr as a FA. If Orr had some better measurables maybe a late round pick. The problem was scouts didnt know where to play him. He wasnt big enough to be an ILB and wasnt fast enough to be an OLB. So at best scouts viewed him as a late round pick to enhance special teams. I dont support RV, but he had nothing to do with Orr not being drafted.

Hey you often have some really good points on here. Im not saying to have HSO's. Im just saying that everyone should stay away from HSO on our QB situation. Especially after the past two years.

You could also say that about half of the FBS teams out there. I wont say Morris is the most accurate QB we've had. I think everyone should just chill about the QB situation till SMU. We wont find out a thing till then. Its no use in praising or slamming one specific player. I do believe the system and coaches will improve the situation at QB dramatically from the past 2 years.

Im a Browns fan and I think its a good move for Craig. He struggled under Ray Horton before who was the Browns DC in 2013. He put Craig in too many coverage situations which didnt suit him well.
