  1. Agree on these, with hope that some of our frosh DL's step up. Just have Drew Miller and frosh Cooper Jones at TE now with no commits. I don't see any WR heavy enough or RB tall enough to convert. Don't forget we need punter.
  2. Will Atterberry was the near-constant silver lining to our offensive fourth downs this year. I don't see a punter on roster or commit list.
  3. National letters of intent cannot be signed until February 6. Midyear JC transfers could sign starting December 19. I assume Reggie Pegram, Darius Terrell, and Brock Bergland have already transfered. ESPN shows JUCO transfers Shawn McKinney and Justin Manu have signed.
  4. It is hard to justify adding seats at this time.
  5. Harry posted December 20 that RB Sergio Medina has committed. May be considered at safety.
  6. I fully agree that lack of shooting, especially outside shooting, is the major issue. The question is why. Do frequent subs keep players from establishing rhythm?
  7. I was at NTSU in back half of the sixties when the school was in the Missouri Valley Conference and played before 4,000 fans in the bleachers of the gym ("snake pit"). NTSU dominated football '66 thru '68, but basketball was much tougher in the MVC. Still, the Eagles were competitive, and the gym was packed nearly every game. Living in Dallas and later back in hometown of Richardson after graduation, I had season tickets for the Cowboys for 19 years (until JJ bought the club), and the Mavericks for ten years. Pro sports ticket prices were already getting ridiculous by the time we moved to Flower Mound seven years ago, and the move made it easy to get reattached to UNT athletics. We have been football season ticket holders for several years now, and my recent retirement makes it easier to attend most basketball games. Was this last football season frustrating? Sure. Is this basketball season a major letdown? Sure. Do I keep my loyalty to my alma mater and hope for better days ahead? ABSOLUTELY!
  8. I was told, and the email I received tends to support this, that the extra tickets were offered to Mean Green Club and season ticket holders first. The public offering, through Facebook and other communications, came at least a day later.
  9. The ladies had a great run to start the second half, and I thought they were on the way to a blowout. UTA came back and pulled it out in the last five minutes. They had good looks at the basket, but the shots did not fall. That includes many missed lay-ups, which is where UTA got the boards. Loryn Goodwin, in particular was awesome on defense, and got several steals. Living in Flower Mound, I want to see McCoy do well; but she was clearly frustrated last night. She even drew a foul in the first 30 seconds. She fell down on another foul and rejected Hannah Christian's offer to help her up. Near the end, she got into a verbal altercation with a UTA player, which led to a double technical. Petersen then benched her for the rest of the game. That is when UTA pulled away. I think Goodwin was also on the bench most of the last five minutes. I don't disagree with benching McCoy - she needs to show emotional leadership.
  10. The floor level board is tilted up about 30 degrees or so. From my seats, I get strong reflection of the ceiling lights.
  11. Would like to see that August 31 game start at 8:00, due to heat and to accommodate time difference for Idaho fans.
  12. I felt like there were way too many substitutions - probably hard for the team to build confidence.
  13. We watched the WBB game. When I went down to MG room, food was all gone. If you want to eat, you need to skip the WBB.
  14. Yes, I noticed that also, and don't recall ever seeing that before.
  15. When you miss free throws, your opponent will play aggressive defense.
  16. On a different note, I did not appreciate the rude yells by the band to the visiting team. "Air ball" is OK, but some of the stuff was inappropriate.
  17. Freshman guard P. J. Hardwick really impressed me. Great ball handler, reflexes, and hustle. He was the shortest guy on the floor and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
  18. Back on the attendance issue. From the club level during the game, you could see hundreds of people among the various tents in the field south of Victory Hall - just like at Homecoming last year. I suspect most are various alumni groups from the various departments, but why can't those be scheduled so they are not in conflict with the game. Just getting those plus the Greeks partying on the hill, a lot of Apogee seats would have been filled.
  19. One factor I have not seen mentioned here is the number of students on campus during the week but home in Dallas or elsewhere on weekends. I don't know if there are a lot of fans in that group, but it couldn't hurt to have more students on campus available to come to the game. By the way, this class of 1969 alumnus will be there.
  20. Looking back at the yearbooks covering the 1966, 1967, and 1968 seasons...the team was the Eagles. On the page covering the victory over Texas Western (now UTEP), one sentence is as follows: The "Mean Green" defenders threw back several desperate fourth quarter scoring bids by the Miners. A year later, the recap of the 1967 season, when they won the MVC championship, includes this paragraph: But not stopping there, the Eagles also set three school records, had ten men named to the All-Conference first team, produced the MVC Coach [Rod Rust] and Sophomore of the Year, had a quarterback who led the nation in touchdown passes [steve Ramsey] and a flanker who led the nation in TD pass receptions [Ron Shanklin]. The produced all this, and they produced a name, the "Mean Green." Whether it was just a name or perhaps a following, it was one by which they were known and respected. The North Texas Green of 1967 was indeed Mean.
  21. Don't forget NT has covered or beat the spread every game except the fluke against Troy.
  22. From my perspective in club seats, clearly there were more in the wing than last time. Offsetting that, however, (1) Troy had fewer people that TS, (2) student section nearest visitors was not as crowded, and (3) upper east side had fewer than last time.
  23. Not that far away, but season ticket holder for six years now from Flower Mound.
  24. I expect to see a big play out of our special teams today. More than one???
