I think Hodge will only play 8 tonight unless we get in foul trouble. I don't know if he trusts the new guys yet. I think he will coach it like he did the exhibition game against Sam Houston. We have some games coming up against Omaha, Angelo State, and Mississippi Valley. Those are games he can experiment with different combinations. Northern Iowa, with everyone back from last year, will be a tough game Probably not the time to see what players are comfortable and know the system. Really need to win at home against a good mid-major program. Can't wait to see the NIT Championship banner go up. GMG!

NCAA is now trying to cut back on giving out waivers. This is why I don't think we see Rondel Walker out of TCU this year. He used his free transfer to go to TCU from Oklahoma State but we have asked for a waiver to make him eligible now. He started some and played a lot for both the Cowboys and Frogs. He'd be a big help.

I only saw one mention of the game on Saturday. Why aren't we promoting our best program??? They should have announced that we will be unveiling the NIT Championship banner Tuesday night. Maybe some of the fans that come to the football games would check it out. This wouldn't have cost us a penny. I wish they would hire someone who has a real love for North Texas to promote our sporting events instead of someone from another school who is only here for 2-3 years.

That third team might be your Mean Green! I don't think we will be playing our best basketball until the end of the year with all of the new guys, AND we will have a home court advantage at the tournament in Ft. Worth.

I wouldn't expect a big UNT crowd this week. HS football playoffs week one, with 3 Denton schools participating, and low expectations from everyone. Hate Friday games and we're on ESPN 2 for all to see. Just hope the offense can keep it close.

I agree totally. Our defense isn't suddenly going to figure things out this week. We don't tackle well or create turnovers and UTSA will score a lot of points. We just have to hope for a couple of breaks and be ready to capitalize on them. Get TD's in the red zone. We can't turn the ball over and must stay away from offensive penalties putting us behind the chains. Probably need a blocked punt or KO return and maybe a special teams turnover. We seem to play them tough with the exception of the CUSA title game last year. I definitely like our chances better against them than vs. Smut next week. Go Mean Green!

Doesn't it take two teams to make a rivalry? Texas and A&M hate each other's guts. I don't think SMU gives a crap about us. I hate them because of their smug attitude and spoiled rich kid behavior. I think UTSA hates us and looks at us like we do Smut. I don't like UTSA because they have built a great football program in such a short period of time and have a QB playing in his 8th year! Go Mean Green!

Found this on their fan site www.panthernation.com. Interesting to see what others think of our program. Looks like UNT was picked to finish 6th out of 14 teams in the AAC (two spots ahead of Wichita State ) earlier this week by their conference's coaches and media members. Last made the NCAA Tournament in 2021 where they upset 4-seed Purdue in the opening round. They also won the NIT last season. However, they only return 1 starter and it doesn't look like they have anyone on the AAC pre-season all-conference team. Never easy to win on the road, but this would be a nice one to win coming out of the gates.

I think Caponi will definitely be back to start next season. They will hit the portal hard on the defensive side and try to get guys in to fit his system. If we don't show a drastic improvement early on next year then I could see Morris making a change. I'm not a fan of the 3-5-5 but it is painfully obvious that we don't have the people to play it right now. I'm not sure how much better we would be in any defense. Tackling is the same in any scheme and we are definitely NOT good at that. Blown coverages and assignments are on the coaching staff but you should already know how to tackle.

I had heard that Morgan was set to leave until Grant left and Hodge was named as his replacement. I hope both Moore and Morgan get more playing time. Since this was just supposed to be an exhibition game, I wasn't sure why we didn't play more guys. Even in the last 3 minutes when we had the game on ice. Anyone know if we have a "secret" scrimmage set up with another school sometime this week?

Hey, they finally redid the steps on the southwest side of the Pit. It's progress. Can't see the new basketball arena happening for at least 3-5 years so I'm sure improvements will be on going.

Maybe they will put Tulsa in that rival spot. I assume that UTSA and RICE are paired up.

Men's schedule is finished. We added two home dates but nothing exciting. Angelo State on Nov. 26th and LSU-Shreveport on Dec. 30th. We needed games so we had to take what we could get. We won't get good crowds until after Christmas break anyway so I'm just glad we found teams to play. Can't wait to get started. Go Mean Green!

Yes. That was part of Family Weekend. They had a drawing and gave away tuition for two students.

Park at Eastside or Lucky Lou's and take the free shuttle.

The wife and I will be there with another Mean Green alum that lives in Virginia. Flying in Thursday night. Definately going to tour the Academy.

I was told that the AAC plays a lot of Sunday games for television.

Shouldn't the final schedule be released in the next week or two. We are almost into Oct. Inquiring minds want to know!
