  1. I agree on the 6'8-6'9 wing and possibly another point guard but we are loaded with 6'5 type guards. Massey the grad transfer guard is 6'6. Cotton and the incoming freshman are both 6'5 and need to play.
  2. Looks like a good finisher and can score from all over the court. Love the size of our guards, all 6'3 plus. and Hodge does love left handed guards! Welcome to UNT.
  3. This will help with Cash's development by getting him more practice reps. Mooney still has a desire to play baseball and he wasn't going to play football for us. That is an example of how the transfer portal can be a good thing. Good luck to him.
  4. Those have been the type of players and system that has been successful for us over the past few years but I think it is fair to question if that will work going forward. Hard to find team first guys in a ME first system.
  5. Once they move on, we need to as well. Let's focus on the guys that WILL be here not the guys that choose to leave. That is the new college landscape. I don't care about what they do at whatever school they choose to go to. I care about the guys that are here. Again, it is going to be a year-to-year situation with most of these guys.
  6. Jimmy's son also played for the Mean Green!
  7. Solid rebounder, decent outside shot and a little post-up game from what I saw in his AAU videos. Welcome aboard young man!
  8. Unless you know a kid can come in and contribute right away, what is the benefit of signing guys out of high school. I think this really hurts recruiting at that level. Why develop them for someone else? The only players that will use the red shirt year will be ones at big schools getting paid nice NIL deals to sit the bench as insurance. Going to have to be able to adapt quickly to the new landscape in college athletics.
  9. FedEx pledges $25M over 5 years to NIL program at Memphis So what Denton area business is going to step up for us????
  10. Kenyon Martin, Bryan Adams, had a really nice NBA career.
  11. There are a ton of players still in the portal. It sucks, but we have to be patient and see how things play out. Let the big money NIL's grab up who they want and there will be a lot of really good players looking for a place to land.
  12. We brought in guys to replace him. We should be pretty set at safety and CB.
  13. Shows you that these players in the portal are more concerned about money than your program history. Better get used to it. These are the kinds of players we are going to be able to get here. We aren't going to get the top-rated transfers. Go after guys that will play hard and want to be at North Texas. If they are grad transfers, then we know for sure they will only be here one year. Added motivation for them to ball out. Robert Allen was a great example. He didn't come here for the NIL money. Played his heart out for us.
  14. WR Jordan Smart is in the portal. Wasn't that impressive last year but had experience.
  15. The spring transfer portal opened today for football players. Wonder if we will lose anyone. The portal stays open for two weeks for non grad transfers.
  16. I stand by Metzler's in Denton. Great food, reasonably priced and long time supporters of UNT.
  17. Heard that Edwards, Scott and Buggs were all visiting Memphis. Doubt that all three end up there but how weird would that be?
  18. Does anyone know if a player announces he is transferring to another school, is that binding or can they back out whenever they want. Is there such a thing as a binding commitment anymore? You would think we have to be getting some guys in here on visits but maybe they just aren't making it public to try to hold on to some. Usually word leaks out,
  19. Good to know the American is leading the country in transfers.
  20. The Spring portal closes on May 1st. Do we lose anyone else? Walker? Stone? Cotton? Sissoko is a grad transfer so he can leave anytime he wants.
  21. The problem is how fast those guys are signed and how much time they can spend working out together during June-August. This would be a good summer to be able to play in an overseas tournament to help team bonding.
  22. Good for him. I'm glad he found somewhere close to home that he can play right away.
  23. Do you expect to hear something from Hodge?
  24. If Ross has to do a complete rebuild next year, what is a realistic expectation? Before the mass exodus, I felt like we were in a position to be a top 4 team in the AAC. Now I don't think that is a fair assumption. To many unknowns.
