No matter what happens with the portal, at this time you still need to bust your a$$ on recruiting HS kids. In a few years it may be less effort. College football is still in a state of flux.

Do you give money to the NIL or donate $$$ to help build the new Mean Green Athletic facility? Where is the biggest bang for the buck?

I have always been a big Morris fan and started following him after the positive comments were made by Seth and Graham after we played them. He has proven to be an evaluator of talent and has on field success at WSU with a quick turnaround. Recruiting HS players has fallen off dramatically across college football ranks and will continue to do so. This could be an opportunity for UNT but only if they stick and produce. We will know come signing period and 2 years later. With the NIL monies and the transfer rules I’m skeptical. I think the twins may be a sign of the future. With success on the field I am more excited on who he can bring in with TP. GMG

PAC becoming a G5? When you look at the options of who they can add it is looking more like a G5 plus conference.

With the portal and NIL monies verbals are of little use. They can decommit up to signing. And then we have to scramble. They need to move signing day up or not even have a signing dead line.

Portal, portal, portal especially when it comes to lineman and qb’s!

Getting a verbal HS commit this far in advanced is always sketchy. We could always say take a hike. Another example on why I think portal players should be 80% of the team.

SMU to the Pac is kind of like Rice to the AAC? SMU could except the Pac invite and wave their portion of the split. With the NIL situation I hope they get in. Their portal class is ranked #3 in the nation, they better win big this year.

For coaches it is still early on the NIL monies. There will be failures but there will also be Tulane types. 2&10 to a 10&2 with credit going to the transfers.

CU is the first school to openly chase off players and bring in high valued transfers.

AAC and MWC should form an association of some type. OOC play at least.

It would be interesting to see how many HS kids were cut? Example CU. You look at any school last year that had unexpected success, it was the transfers that created that success. Most within their first year.

It does require more time and they can transfer any year. Dramatic difference physically from an 18 year old kid from Pilot Point to a 22 year old transfer that has been through the wt program and experience of a P5 or G5.

Portal is the way to go! I would have 80% portal or Juco and would not sign any HS qb’s!

It is another level of the star system and ranking players. What you pay will determine a 4 star player from U of Miami or an unranked player from ACU. This will be the big advantage to SMU. We need to realize that the NIL is just in the beginning stages.

Buying the land will prove to be one of the best purchases UNT has made for athletics for decades to come! He deserves credit. Thank you sir!
